We had an 11:30 lunch PS at Mythos (in Islands of Adventure). Background:

My Mom (50s) – likes practically everything but is the best at knowing what’s good and what isn’t. Favorites are Italian and seafood.
My dad (50s) – extremely picky! Favorites are Barbecue, Italian and seafood.
Myself (30) - always told I was a picky eater but compared to my dad, I’m not! Favorites are Asian food and seafood.
My daughter (5-1/2) – doesn’t like “traditional” kid’s foods like mac and cheese, etc. Has developed a gourmet taste already! Favorites are pasta, crab legs, salmon and ribs.
We are all major dessert lovers.
Our rating system is yucky, so-so, good, very good, and excellent.
If service isn’t noted, it was good but not outstanding or bad.

I ordered the Tempura Shrimp Sushi. Sometimes just the shrimp is tempura and it’s rolled in rice and the seaweed wrapper. But other times, as in this time, the shrimp, rice, and seaweed in it’s entirety is dipped in tempura batter and then fried. It was absolutely delicious and even non-sushi lovers would love it (as did both my parents). The frying makes the edges crispy and easy to chew (sometimes the uncooked seaweed is hard to bite off and chewy). I rated it “excellent.”

My mom ordered a hamburger. She rarely eats red meat but was in the mood. She rated it “good.”

My dad ordered the Lemongrass Pork with Shrimp Pad Thai. Now, my dad does NOT like Asian food. I warned him that lemongrass is a common Thai ingredient and I didn’t think he would like the Pad Thai. (He hates ginger!) He insisted he would like it and was mildly offended that I wasn’t impressed by his willingness to try new things! Well, the pork turned out to be covered in a very thick sauce that he didn’t like. My mom tried it and deemed it “yucky.” The Pad Thai, however, was rated “good” by both.

My daughter only ordered a dessert because I let her have green eggs and ham for lunch in Seuss Landing. It was called Dino Eggs – lime jello/vanilla pudding frozen and molded into eggs sitting on a “nest” of shredded phyllo dough. It looked beautiful and I even took a picture of it! It was on a cool clear rectangular glass plate and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Looks can be deceiving, however, because it tasted only “so-so.” It was a strange consistency (not like ice cream) and was too cold on my daughter’s teeth (she has no problems eating ice cream). It was so cute, however, I’m still glad we ordered it!

For dessert, we split the Warm Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake (heard from these boards). It lived up to our expectations and was one of my favorite desserts of the entire trip (and we had many). We all agreed it was “excellent.” Another bonus – it was served with peanut butter ice cream! Yum!

We will definitely eat at Mythos again on our next trip to IOA.

Loved all your reviews - thanks!! Did you feel like you needed the PS for Mythos? We made PS for Tchoup Chop, but not here. I definately want to eat here, so I am wondering if I should make a PS - what do you think?

Thanks again for the great reviews!

I'm beginning to know your dad and mom really well!:D Soon as you said Thai lemongrass thought your dad may not like that....I went to a thai restaurant recently and my dd loves chinese/japanse curry and wanted to try thai curry.....(my best friend is japanese and she often invites us to stay for tea!) My dd didn't like it at all and that contained lemongrass - it has an unusal flavour that is usually combined with bamboo shoots - too pungent.

Loved the sound of all the other dishes and peanut butter ICECREAM!!!.....ohhh sounds delicious.

Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake this is on our must try list too many people love this:jester:

AAAAhhhhh!!!!!! Mythos! My favorite restaurant. I love that sushi appetizer. The presentation is so beautiful isn't it? Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much for posting your restuarnat reviews. I really enjoyed reading them... the dessert selections sound fabulous!

Thanks for taking the time to post here!

When we arrived at 11:30 (opening time), it was empty. However, by noon it was full. I think the hassle of getting to a PS on time is worth the possibility of having to wait or not get in at all.
