Where are the best places to stay in Destin?

We LOVE Sandestin!

We find it to be very family friendly and a beautiful resort. The resort is very large and has two main parts (on the beach side and on the bay side). The are lots of activities and shuttles to get you around the grounds.

It is pretty pricey, but you can get better deals on vrbo.com and some of the other sites. We prefer the beachfront condos, but they have lots of different options!

Sandestin Resort about 5 miles east of the City of Destin is the place to be.

The land Sandestin sits on was one of the original sites Disney looked at for his parks.

It's gorgeous and clean.

Sandestin is gorgeous and clean, but can be a bit pricey. Hubby plays golf there each year when we visit.

I like Destin West alot on the Bay side , havent stayed there yet but visited friends a few times.


I always use Destinvacation.com which is Newman Dailey resort properties . Have used them going on 8 years now and been very happy.

I prefer to stay on Old Hwy 98

My inlaws own a condo in Destin in the Silver Shells resort (http://www.silvershells.com/). Its right next to a state park, so the beach is very quiet. Although, this year, its pretty quiet in general what with the threat of tar balls. We just came back last week and it was a little more sea weedy than normal (no oil though!). It has several nice pools, a playground, very family friendly. Walking distance to alot of restaurants too.

Try Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, it is wonderful, almost completely inclusive with onsite shopping and dining and beaches on the Gulf and Bay side and all different types of accommodations for every budget and family size. There are some great specials on their website right now.
