So, I have most of my Christmas Day dinner figured out. We are having a standing rib roast with horseradish sauce, cream cheese mashed potatoes (LeCellier recipe), roasted broccoli, and rolls. I don't know what to make for dessert though! So, I need some ideas.

The only real issue on what to pick is that the boyfriend is lactose intolerant. He can take Lactaid and is okay with dairy in smaller amounts but something like cheesecake is a big no! Especially since I am making the cream cheese potatoes already.

Darn! I was going to suggest cherry cheesecake.. It would look so festive.. Maybe something else you could do with cherry pie filling?

I originally was going to recommend one of my holiday standbys---Hot fudge sundaes made with peppermint stick ice cream:love: But given the latose intolerance angle, I'd go with making a pecan pie (no dairy there!) or passing a candy (some good chocolates or how about the liquor filled chocolates?) and cookie tray with flavored coffee. :cutie:

This looks pretty and is very yummy and super-easy. Prepare the batter for a packaged angel-food cake and pour it in to a lightly greased rectangular baking dish. Spoon one can of cherry pie filling all over the batter (it will sink to the bottom). Bake until the cake is done on top as described on the cake mix box. Scoop out to serve and top with homemade whipped cream if you want. (You can use any kind of fruit pie filling, but cherry is pretty for Christmas.) It's yummy and not very heavy for after a big meal.

I don't know if you have a big crowd or not, but we have chocolate fondue every Christmas Eve. It's just the five of us for that meal. I'm not sure it would work with a lot of people. Our dippers are usually pound cake, strawberries, bananas, pretzels, sometimes pineapple or any other fruit I might have.

This is a cake a made a few years ago. It's easy. Just buy a premade angel food cake and cut it in half. Mix a container of Cool Whip(it's a non-dairy product) with a can of drained crushed pineapple. Layer the cake with the Cool Whip/pineapple mixture. Also put some down around the bottom of the cake. Decorate with strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi.

Easy and delicious!!!!
