Dessert Party

I am thinking of having a dessert party on the evening of my wedding, Does anyone known if you can have more guests attend the DP than attended the actual wedding?(I am having a child free wedding but would really like them to come to this) And also my DF would rather have a DP at MGM, do they do them there and what is the location like?

As with all things DFTW related, it depends on who and how you ask, however... Yes, you can have more people at your dessert party than wedding. We had 16 guests at our wedding and 20+ at our DP at UK Upper.

I have heard of them hassling Escape brides about this because they don't want you to use the dessert party as an unofficial reception in order to get around the Escape wedding guest limit.... As JaxTeach said, it's all who you talk to!

So I definatly have to book this through the weddings people then? I really really want this and dont want to be dissapointed because ive spoken to the wrong person!

Are you having an Escape wedding? If you're having a Wishes I don't think there would be any issues. I personally had no issues at all with having higher guest counts at everything except the ceremony, but there are reports of others having problems. I was very clear when we started our planning that we did not want a Wishes wedding because we had no way of filling a room block since many guests were locals.

We haven't addressed your Fantasmic DP questions yet! There aren't a lot of these, but I know one of the DIS brides had one. I believe it was Mary_626? Forgive me for not remembering the screen name! Maybe someone else will...

From what I remember from her TR, the Fantasmic! DP is held in a small patio area at the top of the Fantastmic! "stadium". It seemed to be just like the Illuminations DP as far as food is concerned, but maybe not. I'm not sure what the rules are at MGM as far as formal (wedding) attire is concerned. We used Disney transportation to take us backstage so we could be at our DP in our wedding clothes.

Thanks for all the info so far! I am having an escape wedding and cannot have a wishes for the same reason.(too many of my guests own property in Orlando)so maybe if I tell them my reasons then.?.?.?

Im off to Disney later this month so just wanted to know the location of the Fantasmic DP so I can go and check it out.
