Dessert Party questions...

I'm back to considering the dessert party again. I have a bunch of questions and was hoping that you all could help! So here goes...

We're aiming for a DP @ the end of March @ Sago Cay - what time do the fireworks usually happen this time of year? How do you plan your dessert party around the fireworks? Do you start it a while before so you have time to eat and chat and then watch the fireworks as the finale?

Is there a setup fee for sago cay?

Is the minimun still $1,000 + + ?

How much do they usually require to hold the date?

If you'd like to include a bar is there a fee for that? Or is there a bar nearby where people can walk over to and order drinks from?

How long do the dessert parties usually run?

I've heard mixed answers on this, but are you allowed to bring the leftover desserts home? I know some people have, but it is supposed to be on the sly?

I can't answer all of your questions, but I can answer a few! I can't comment on Sago Cay at all!

Dessert Parties are 1 hour. When they are planned around fireworks, they usually start 1/2 an hour before.

A Disney Catered Event requires a $500 deposit.

If you have a bill on consumption bar, there is usually a set up fee unless bar sales exceed $500, I believe it is $100 + tax. Not sure if there is a set up fee if you add the a drinks package. Lurkyloo would be a good person to talk to on that. These are the menus I received for my dessert party for desserts and bar.

Officially, you can not take food away but as you said, there are mixed answers. The official line is no, but from the accounts I've read, CM often turn a blind eye and some even encourage you to take the food with you.

Last time I checked it was $75, but that's for weddings. Sometimes Disney Catered Events includes it in the total they quote you.

It's only $500++ for a dessert party.

Mizners Lounge all the way back in the main building is the nearest "bar" bar, but you can buy bottled booze at Gasparilla Grill & Games, which is right there next to Sago Cay.

Officially, no, but I have never been to a dessert party where the servers prevented it (as MrRomance said, they usually encourage it). The people who know the rule, the planners, are not actually at the event to enforce it.
