Dessert at Palo?

I seem to recall reading that one (or two) can go up to Palo and have dessert only. Is this possible? Is there a charge? Do I need a reservation? Don't they have a bar there where one could sit to have dessert and coffee?

We are on the 3 night & I don't want to miss a regular dining room but want to get to Palo also. This might be the way to do it (besides the wine tasting)

Thanks in advance

I was wondering about this also. I assume that there will be a charge, but that would be fine. I was also wondering if they would allow you to order a meal to be picked up and taken to the cabin, or where ever. I know that I am about to get flamed for that because the atmosphere is part of the experience. I just know that my DD would love to try some of the things on the menu, and of course, she is barred from the restaurant.

From my understanding, and I haven't tried it yet but will in Sept., you can go to the bar and just order dessert. Don't believe there's the regular $10 charge. Don't think you can just order dinner at the bar, but will be interested to see what others say.

thanks for the answer. I will try it in June & post the answer (if I remember). It never fails, I always ask questions that no one has the answer to (or few people), even though many people look at the posting....

I also do not know the answer to your question. I do know that the coffee is awesome and here is one of the desserts you can get!!

I don't know about going there, but on our last cruise I was addicted to the souffle. They have a yummy sauce that goes with it. It's just now "thrown" in front of you. I was able to persuade my regular servers to bring some down to our table at one of the regular restaurants. They couldn't get enough for the whole table (10), but we got 6 and shared.

Did you just ask them to bring it that day? Do they actually have to go up and get it themselves?

Unfortunately, without a Palo reservation, you can only order drinks at the bar. No food or dessert.

That pic of the dessert reminds me of the chocolate souffle at Victoria and Alberts....which is the BEST dessert ever!!!! Now, I don't care what it takes....I HAVE to get into Palo!!!!!!

Beth, someone at our table arranged with the Head Server to have the souffle brought down to our table the following night. There was some kind of 'snaffou', and after waiting a while our Server went up to Palo to get it himself. Apparently there were further complications up there, as he only came back with one 'for us to taste' and he had arranged to bring us each one TO OUR STATEROOMS a little later. Needless to say, there was a big tip for that! ::yes::

My kids have never tasted the Chocolate Souffle....I didn't know you could ask your head server to bring some to your table!!
Anyways, I made the Chocolate Souffle last week at home, it was fabulous!! I am not the gourmet cook, but it turned out great, my kids even helped make it!! ......although not the same as going to Palo, but still after 1 bite I could feel the sway of the ship!! :sunny:

We just got back from our cruise last Sunday. We wanted to a do a just dessert thing too for my birthday, but they didn't have that. You have to make a reservation either way. You can have just dessert there though if you want. We decided to have the full deal..why not right? :lmao:

We had the souffles....which btw were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!

I made the mistake of telling our server that I'm a raspberry addict and mil said she was interested in the custard, but really wanted the souffle...guess what we got?

On the left is some sort of custard type thing, just amazing!! On the right a pistachio and raspberry type thing. I really don't know what to call it, other then "thank god, I can't find this at home" :rotfl:

We begged our server to get some souffles for our table (we might have been at PC that night). It was only after a few night so we could get to know him before we made demands. He got a sweet tip.
