Despite the unspeakable horrors that took place on 9/11/2001, there are some images...from all across the globe that I think everyone should be reminded of.

They are images of people helping people, of firefighters, police and medics rushing in to burning buildings to help save the hurt and dying. Of search and rescue workers looking for survivors, comforting each other with prayers and friendship when they couldn't keep the tears away. And of citizen heroes, volunteering to search, to comfort and to bring water and food to those in need. They are the pictures of people helping their co-workers to get out, when they could barely walk. They are images of the heroes of that horrible day, some of whom never made it out.

They are images of all of our countrymen and women across the country. Holding prayer and candlelight vigils and building shrines and tributes. Putting up their flag to tell the terrorists that WE WILL PREVAIL. They are photos of those who were donating what they could to families and fire and police departments who had just lost many lives.

They are images of our friends, across the globe who on that day said "We are one world". They are the men, women and children who left flowers and candles at embassies, who signed cards, who held up the American flag next to their own and said "We are your friends and despite our differences, we are all people and we all care". They are the women in Jordan, the men in Bangladesh and the children in Russia and India.

On that horrible day, the terrorists may have thought they proved that they could "get us". But they failed. In fact, all they proved was that the good people of the World, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or language could be counted on to help each other out. Because good always triumphs over evil. And come hell or high water, united we will ALWAYS stand.

Let Freedom Ring, and let Peace and Love prevail.

Thanks, E. A very sad day, a day the world was American. Thanks for sharing.

As much as I appreciate this thread it has been 3 years and IMHO it is time to move on we don't have to forget about it but it is time to get over it. I am not trying to upset people but this is something that needs to be moved past. For everyuone that lost someone all the tributes just make it harder for them to get past the terrible loss and I am sure they would love to be able to get through this day without all the reminders as they have a large reminder at home with the missing family member every day. Again sorry if I am upseting people with this post but it is time to let people grieve on that day without shoving it in their faces every year.

You obviously knew what this thread was about BEFORE you opened it. If you don't want to read this sort of stuff, please don't open it.

That was a nice tribute, thank you. I believe that 9/11 should NEVER be forgotten. We should ALWAYS remember and ALWAYS be on guard.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and if it is how you truly feel, I can certainly understand. Everyone grieves differently and I am certainly not here to judge the way any one individual grieves the loss of their loved ones.

However, this thread is meant to not so much focus on the losses, but to remember the unity, and the way the world came together to help the USA on that day. I think that unity is one of the greatest tributes to those who perished that day.

I firmly believe that despite the tragic loss of 3000 American lives, the terrorists did NOT achieve their goal at all. Instead, on 9/11 they brought the good people of this world closer.

This thread is meant to be a tribute, and I just do not want it to turn into a debate.

I do agree 9/11 should not & will not ever be forgotten around the world.....

I just took this pic in my sig from my deck.

They have the lights on tonight once again as a tribute.

It isn't a matter of not wanting to read it I read all threads unless it truly does not merit a read. I just feel for the families that have lost loved ones in the tragedy. I feel they should be able to have this day without all the reminders as they allready have a large one every day when they come home to a house without the husband, wife etc. They do not need to see this on the anniversary I realize that is was a natrional tragedy also but with respect to those that lost loved ones I think it is time to allow them to have the day without all the extra reminders.

Not a problem EX that was my last post from my soapbox and don't get me wrong it is a very toughing tribute and I am sure many will appreciate it.

I (think) I understand what you are saying, but as a person who expericed the horror firsthand, and know many, many families of victims (both living and dead), I can assure you the the vast majority of those involvedin any way DO NOT want this forgotten.

It would be a travesty if tomorrow was any other day. Besides, it helps the process when you 'relive' the day once a year.

Sorry, I just can't agree with you.

LDF not a problem I to have friends that worked in the towers they luckily did not have to work that day.

It's nice, E, to see how many remembrances there will be tomorrow. Last year, the children of those lost read each and every name, this year, the parents and grandparents will. What a wonderful way to come together, to recall, remember, honor.
