Desiree's Journal - (Posts welcome)

Hey Desiree,
Sending you:hug: and :wizard: today. I hope that you start to feel better soon.::yes:: I think it's good that you are listening to your body. You'll know when you are ready to start working out again.

I'm very sorry to hear about your aunt. I 'll say some prayers for you and your family.

Take good care of you Des!

Hi Desiree-
Thanks for stopping by my journal. Hope you are on the mend, seems once that stuff gets into your lungs, it just wants to make itself at home.

Get that water going and you will probably have those pounds off in no time. Hope to hear you are feeling well real soon:sunny:

Desiree, I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about your aunt.

I hope you're starting to get back into your routine - sometimes it helps with the healthy habits. If you're still having a nagging cough, especially after exertion, you may want to check with the doctor. You may have bronchitis or asthma. Please take care of you!

I hope your Wednesday goes well! :sunny:

Thanks everyone.. I finally feel like I'm back to "normal" or at least as close to normal as I get!!!

We're planning on possibly going to the gym tonight or definately playing Tennis with Devyn. She's been itching to go try that and I finally feel up to it. We may be able to get in both.

Tomorrow I'm back on the plan. I've been slacking and drinking Sprite's and sneaking a coke here and there. Sprite started when I was sick and needing liquids, cokes, well that's just a no no. I'm glad to hopefully be back to my normal routine starting tomorrow.

***ALERT FOR DAX or 1 of 3, or TOFGIA or whatever you are calling yourself these days!**** Read no further....

TOM is just around the corner too so I'm not even going to attempt to get on the scale until next week. I'd be too afraid of what I'd see.

****It's ok for you to continue reading now*****

Devyn's been doing well with her softball games, for those interested. Although I'm a little peeved at her coaches. Devyn has made every practice and always has been on time for each game, has been sitting out at least an inning each of the last few games while other "children" who are contstantly late or missing practices play the entire game. Kristen (dev's stepmom) had what seemed to be a pretty productive conversation with the coach last practice on Saturday (it was their weekend with Dev, so she took her to the practice). Well needless to say the coach said that he wants to put Dev on First base. Why tell Kristen that if you're not going to follow through with it?!?! Yep, you guessed it, last night's game, no first base. Sooo. Bottom line, is that next year Kristen and I will coach a team. This guy has no sense of fairness. Dev is constantly sitting on the bench while his and the other coach's kids have full playing time. Not to toot her own horn either, but Dev is a decent little player too. She's been playing for 5 years now.

Ok vent over! That felt better to type it out. This has been bugging me about these coaches for quite some time now. And it's not that it's just that she's sitting on the bench, I mean just give equal time for EVERYONE to sit out here and there and rotate the kids around a bit so they get some experience!

Anyhoo I hope everyone is having a great week. I need to start looking for the next challenge since I've totally blown this Mother's day one to smithereens!

Hi Desiree,

I'm glad youre feeling better. This bug that is going around is a doozy. That coach sounds like Katie's soccer coach. I think it is great that you are willing to coach Devyn's team next year. It also says alot about you that you get on so well with Kristen.

Have a great one,
Beth

Well I survived! I didn't jog though. Dev and I played Tennis for about an hour and had a blast doing it! Then Chris and I went to the gym. I only did one set of each on the weight training. But will bump that back up on Friday.

It feels good to be back in full swing. I dont think I'm going to post my meals anymore though. It's just too time consuming but I will check in with updates and make sure I'm getting my water in and such.

Y'all have a great day!

:wave2: Hi Desiree,
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your day yesterday. Hope you have a great one today :sunny: !

Hi Desiree,

Good to see you back in action.
Sorry to hear about your coach issue- seems to me at her age, they should be rotating fairly so everyone can have an equal chance to play.
Good for you for making a stand and deciding to coach next year.

I keep asking DH to consider it for DS. The last two season, it seems the coach's kids have been the worse behaved kids on the team. I would just die if I was a coaching a team and my DS acted up like that. Hope your daughter gets some good play time before the end of the season. :D

:wave2: Just stopping by to say "hi" and give you a little reminder to :drinking: and to treat yourself in a healthy way!

Hope you had a nice weekend,
Erin

Stopping by to say hi. Glad you are better. That is frustrating with unfair coaches isn't it? My one son's coach last year thanked me for having such a well behaved son and stated "he was the ONLY one on the team that would listen to what they said and do as he was told"! I then said, "thank you for the compliment but he has no choice but to listen since he is only 9 and should do as he is told"! We had the biggest brat on the team and he constantly played all the time. He should have been benched for his bad behavior and poor sportsmanship, but never was! It drove me crazy:crazy: ! I pretty much always like kids but couldn't stand this little brat. The coach would sit other kids out but never this kid. He never played in position and would argue with the coaches/refs. Go figure. You should have seen his mother in action. The apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree!:earseek:

Hey Desiree,

Thanks for the TOM warning! What age is Devyn? Does the league you guys are in have a rule regarding playing time? Just wondering, you know this gets into my realm (athletics) and I was curious to know some of the circumstances. I think it is great you are going to coach!:worship:

Coaching is not an easy endeavour, but it can be really rewarding and very unpleasant at times so be ready for both ends of the spectrum. The key is to always do what you believe is right and you should be fine. But remember, you will probably not please everyone and that is the sad reality, but be true to yourself and try to do the right thing!

Just a quick update here. Been averaging about 3 x a week at the gym. Not what I'd like, but we've been really really busy!

Devyn got "recruited" by one of the other moms on her team to play in a summer fastpitch league. I'm already very pleased with this. We ended up having a long talk with the current coach last night. He of course, kinda hemmed and hawwed around the situation, but it is known now that Devyn will not be playing on this team next year. (I didn't let on to the fact that we would be the ones coaching either!). Her coach did say that he rotates the outfield only so each kid would only be out just one inning a game. Now, we only play about 3 innings maybe 4. (Games are an hour and a half, max 10 batters per inning unless the other team gets 3 outs). I bit my tongue when he said that. (Devyn sat out 2 innings last night). I wanted to hear what his philosophy was. Now, next game if she sits out more than one inning, I will say something to him. Other parents have come up to me and said that Devyn is too good to be sitting on the bench that much. Of course, I"m not partial, but I agree :) Anyway, back to the recruiting part. Apparently this lady has been a silent observer all along and sees the potential Devyn has. She personally hand-picked Devyn and another girl to fill the spots needed for her team this summer. It seems like she really has all her ducks in a row too. So for about a month we'll be rotating games/practices between the two leagues. BLAH!!! It's going to be a busy month! And she wants to start swimming this summer! Eeek! I may never see the internet again!

Dax: Dev is 10 btw. Well, she will be 10 on the 27th of this month.

Oy so much for a quick update!
Planning on hitting the gym this weekend. Got mom's day on Sunday then Sun. night going to see Chicago in concert (again!) :) Yay!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi Desiree-

Things have been busy around here, and just getting a chance to catch up on journals.

Hope you had a great Mother's Day and that the concert was wonderful!:sunny:

That is great on Devyn being picked for the summer league. Sounds like the current coach is either making it up as he goes along, or he just isn't paying atttention as to who has sat out already. Either way, at least it will be over soon. Hope she "shines" on the new team.

Hope you got a chance to get to the gym also, you need some time for you!:sunny:

Have a great week-

Desiree,
Hi there! Whew! Sounds like you have been quite busy! Congratulations to Devyn for being picked for that summer league. Sounds like quite an honor!::yes::

I hope that you are all feeling better and are able to get some relaxation in with your busy schedules.

Have a great week!

Tracy:wave2:

What great habits you're instilling in Devyn - all this exercise combined with fun that she's having will hopefully help her to keep up exercise throughout her life!

Glad to hear things are going well for all of you! :sunny:

Glad to hear about the summer league. That will be great for her self confidence. Have a good one.

Hey guys.. I havent been posting much, I know!! I'm sorry about that. I'm kinda digging this mom's taxi thing! We'll we're up early today. Dev has practice this morning at 9:00 am (the other practice for the original team was cancelled and I'm relieved since it was scheduled at 9:00 am too). At her practice, they will be working on sliding........ in the mud. Yes, we've had the great deluge here. It's been raining almost constantly since Wednesday. No message yet that this practice has been cancelled yet either. SOooo I will have to bring some old sheets to put over my car seat if the practice does go on as scheduled.
Oh, after our little talk with the coach, Devyn managed to play the entire game on Thurs. (We were able to squeeze that one in.) Of course, we only had enough girls to play though, but at least they didnt get a chance to put her or anyone else on the bench and forget about them!

Chris and I are planning on going to the gym today. I haven't been eating as well as I should, so I need to buckle down on that. Other than that I hope you all are doing well!!!

Tell Devyn the key to sliding is to get down waaaaaaaaay before you think you should and that will prevent nasty sprained ankles on the bases. (I speak from experience!)

I have new posts about new things going on in my life and Desiree, you are about my most faithful poster so I thought you should know!

Enjoy your weekend!

The incredible shrinking one!

Desiree, I'm thinking of you and hoping all is well. I know there's a lot going on right now but don't forget to take some time for you, OK?? :sunny:
