I vote for Lake Tahoe. It is a great place to ski in the winter and just plain gorgeous any other time. Here is my wish list -
North shore of lake - away from the casinos
Shoreline access
Walking/biking trails
One nice sized, but not huge, building with nice grocery selection as well as CS
Nice TS restaurant with a huge stone fireplace to make it cozy.
Larger building could accomodate a limited number of rooms for a "cozy inn" feel.
Several individual villas to have a little "cabin in the woods" feel.
King size beds in all of the units
Lake activities - boat rental, water bikes, etc.
Access to ski slopes/lifts in the winter
Other activities like camp fires around the lake, roasting marshmallows, movies on the beach, etc.
Great indoor/outdoor pool for use all year long
And last but not least, a fabulous spa!
Castaway Cay
Very Tropical with a Disney theme, classic characters....everything Disney
Access to the existing facilities and activites on Castaway Cay.
There would be a tubing River winding through the resort.
Great pool area with lots of amenities (slide, zero entry, play area, pooltable, table tennis, shuffleboard, etc...)
Community Center with activites for the kids, teens and adults
Maybe 200-300 rooms with 1 tower and the remainder clusters of buildings with 3 or 4 floors in each.
All rooms have good views ..... Pool view, Ocean view.....
Slightly larger decks than most dvc's so a patio table and 4 chairs would fit comfortably and maybe a fan mounted above for the hot days
Casual poolside sitdown restaurant/bar
Quick Service counter
Upscale/Casual restaurant
and YES I would be buying into this one![]()
I absolutely LOVE this idea. This would be the perfect fit with DCL. I would also add some kind of marketplace for shopping.
My perfect vacation would be - DCL to Castaway Cay DVC. DCL back to Florida and then extend my stay at one of the WDW DVC's for my WDW fix. I would get the best of all worlds.![]()
That is a good idea but would you have to take a cruise to get to the location or take a Magical Express boat ride?
Ok I live in Ohio and we do not have any timeshares in our beautiful state. We need something here that we can get to without flying anywhere or driving all day. I suggest my town which is called Vermilion. It is on Lake Erie and is a really nice boating community. Check out the link to our town and you will see what a nice place it is to live and vacation. Disney is all about imagination and dreaming right? ;-)
Disney's Vermilion Beach & Boat Club
That was kind of what I was thinking...while Castaway Cay would be a beautiful location, would it be leigible for sale in the various US states, as Disney/DVC would have a basic monopoly on the to/from transportation. They sure would provide the transportation for free.![]()
Ohio does have at least two timeshare properties: Apple Valley Resort and Erie Island Resort and Marina, but I really like your idea of placing resorts in spaces not already overcrowded with competing products. Last thing I need is another resort property in Tahoe or Vegas!Ok I live in Ohio and we do not have any timeshares in our beautiful state. Thanks for causing me to look up the word 'Vermillion' -- now I understand why my neighbor's flashy chestnut Arabian is named such, based on his color. I just wish there a shorter, cutsy nick-name for him. It seems so unwieldy when calling the horses over for a scritch-scratch, "Patrick! Guy! Patriot! Vermillion!"
Sorry, getting back to the topic: Your town of Vermillion does look charming. How does it fare for 'year round' visitor draw?
Sure, or at least over your proposed Disney Vacation Club Resort project? Kinda like The Truman Show?Maybe we could put a retractable cover over the town to make it through the winter.

I am one who does not intend using my points any where other than WDW (I might do 1 or 2 nights at the new Hawaii DVC if they have magic express type transportation from the airport and ferry).
My ideal would be a Tahiti DVC resort next to the Polynesian, build like the intercontinental hotel in Tahiti (build into the side of a cliff) overlooking MK. I wonder where they would get the black sand.
