Design Your Own DVC - Let's Imagineer!

I vote for Lake Tahoe. It is a great place to ski in the winter and just plain gorgeous any other time. Here is my wish list -

North shore of lake - away from the casinos
Shoreline access
Walking/biking trails
One nice sized, but not huge, building with nice grocery selection as well as CS
Nice TS restaurant with a huge stone fireplace to make it cozy.
Larger building could accomodate a limited number of rooms for a "cozy inn" feel.
Several individual villas to have a little "cabin in the woods" feel.
King size beds in all of the units
Lake activities - boat rental, water bikes, etc.
Access to ski slopes/lifts in the winter
Other activities like camp fires around the lake, roasting marshmallows, movies on the beach, etc.
Great indoor/outdoor pool for use all year long
And last but not least, a fabulous spa!

I would go for Lake Tahoe as well (then I don't have to trade out to go there!). However, I would want the south shore. I did tell DH that the next time we go I think we should try the ns though!

Here are my top three:

3) Alcatraz: Perhaps this could be on Discovery Island. You have to use your luggage as flotation devices to make your way to the island. Once you are there, you are in a 6x12 "cell" with someone you don't know. If you can use your 2009 DVC pin to chisel your way through the cell and slip past the guards, you can swim (dodging bullets from snipers in towers) towards Magic Kingdom. Make it back to your cell before lights out, and you are free to try it again the next day. Free tatoos.

2) Roman Colosseum: Last I heard, they were going to knock down the Orange Bowl in Miami. Turn it into the Roman Colosseum and build DVC rooms into the side. Pop a pool right in the middle of the field. Every hour on the hour, release a lion or scary looking dude with a club --- survival of the fittest.

1) Euro Disney Comes to Florida: Recreate Euro Disney about 10 miles east of Orlando. Anyone who complains about a rude cast member, chipped paint, or garbage on the ground is instantly vanquished to this "other" reality. After ten sessions of therapy to forget their stay in "Euro DVC", they can vow never to complain again and return to the DVC resort of their choice.

I'd kind of like a desert location, New Mexico or Nevada (Las Vegas, Laughlin,) a Southwest Style resort simlar to the designs released for Eagle Pines. A nice pool, a table service restaurant that has comfort foods and Southwestern style. Heck, even put it near an interesting Ghost Town, like Calico or Tombstone. Maybe even near the Grand Canyon. Although I think Vegas or Laughlin would be better entertainment-wise for most visitors.

Ok I live in Ohio and we do not have any timeshares in our beautiful state. We need something here that we can get to without flying anywhere or driving all day. I suggest my town which is called Vermilion. It is on Lake Erie and is a really nice boating community. Check out the link to our town and you will see what a nice place it is to live and vacation. Disney is all about imagination and dreaming right? ;-)

I think that a DVC at the Poly would be sweet! But set it up like some of the islands in Bali, Tahiti, or the Maldives. Have a dock system with above water type cabins. Sort of the palm tree effect that they have done in Dubai! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

Castaway Cay

Very Tropical with a Disney theme, classic characters....everything Disney :lovestruc

Access to the existing facilities and activites on Castaway Cay.

There would be a tubing River winding through the resort.

Great pool area with lots of amenities (slide, zero entry, play area, pooltable, table tennis, shuffleboard, etc...)

Community Center with activites for the kids, teens and adults

Maybe 200-300 rooms with 1 tower and the remainder clusters of buildings with 3 or 4 floors in each.

All rooms have good views ..... Pool view, Ocean view.....

Slightly larger decks than most dvc's so a patio table and 4 chairs would fit comfortably and maybe a fan mounted above for the hot days

Casual poolside sitdown restaurant/bar

Quick Service counter

Upscale/Casual restaurant

and YES I would be buying into this one :cloud9:

I absolutely LOVE this idea. This would be the perfect fit with DCL. I would also add some kind of marketplace for shopping.

My perfect vacation would be - DCL to Castaway Cay DVC. DCL back to Florida and then extend my stay at one of the WDW DVC's for my WDW fix. I would get the best of all worlds.:banana::banana::worship:

That is a good idea but would you have to take a cruise to get to the location or take a Magical Express boat ride?

That was kind of what I was thinking...while Castaway Cay would be a beautiful location, would it be leigible for sale in the various US states, as Disney/DVC would have a basic monopoly on the to/from transportation. They sure would provide the transportation for free. :confused3

Your town looks very nice. We've traveled through Ohio but have never stayed there. A DVC in the Great Lakes Region sounds like a good idea. I'd definitely visit.

Just put a Piggy Wiggly on the island and life would be good.

Ohio does have at least two timeshare properties: Apple Valley Resort and Erie Island Resort and Marina, but I really like your idea of placing resorts in spaces not already overcrowded with competing products. Last thing I need is another resort property in Tahoe or Vegas!

Thanks for causing me to look up the word 'Vermillion' -- now I understand why my neighbor's flashy chestnut Arabian is named such, based on his color. I just wish there a shorter, cutsy nick-name for him. It seems so unwieldy when calling the horses over for a scritch-scratch, "Patrick! Guy! Patriot! Vermillion!"

Sorry, getting back to the topic: Your town of Vermillion does look charming. How does it fare for 'year round' visitor draw?

Maybe we could put a retractable cover over the town to make it through the winter.

You guys are too serious, lol. The Alcatraz idea didn't even get a rise out of you. Now I am wondering if people knew I was just kidding, or just thought I was plain crazy :rotfl2:

OK, here is my latest stupid idea, since I have way too much free time this weekend.......Let's continue with the movie theme by Hollywood Studios and build a Star Wars resort in the shape of the Death Star. We can roll Spaceship Earth over from Epcot, gut it, and replace it with villas. We can then suspend it about 100 feet off the ground.

rutgers1: I like your ideas.

Do you have any realistic ideas that are just as creative and wonderful?

I bet you could come up with some wonderfully creative resorts for real.

I'm not thinking very creatively today, but I know I sure would love to have a Disney annual pass that is valid for FL and CA.

I am one who does not intend using my points any where other than WDW (I might do 1 or 2 nights at the new Hawaii DVC if they have magic express type transportation from the airport and ferry).

My ideal would be a “Tahiti” DVC resort next to the Polynesian, build like the intercontinental hotel in Tahiti (build into the side of a cliff) overlooking MK. I wonder where they would get the black sand.

I am with you, I really would like a Poly DVC!!!

Meanwhile I will wait for the Hawaiian DVC (it would be the nearly posible to Poly) but like you I would prefer it in the world.

Another good option for me would be:

* The Caribean, something like pirates villas, with ships, all perfectly themed, with awesome waterpark, but it must be all inclusive, just like those Beaches Resorts, and not so expensive for ppl to can afford it.

* The Lake Tahoe but it must have an awesome waterpark to be enjoyed at the summer.
