So I got my domain and such all registered and I'm now setting up my website. The program I have access to is not the most user friendly and is kinda limited design wise.

Can anyone recommend a good site or some software that would allow me to design it and the just upload it via ftp. I'd prefer a WYSIWYG program verses writing html.

Thanks.

What are you going to be using your website for? Many places have created pre-made templates where you can just fill in your info and you are pretty much done.

I need something that I can change about and have contact forms and such. It's a business site.

Hmmm, I wonder if you can just buy or download premade contact form templates? :scratchin

Who are you using as your provider? We use GoDaddy and I created our website with their templates. They are very easy to use and if you know any code you can tweak them fairly well. There are forms, PayPal dropins, calendars and other widgets that are simple to add.

Mrsv - did you use GoDaddy's Website Tonight to create your website? I am going to be helping a friend create her website and she is NOT computer literate at all but I am - therefore I will be the one setting it up. If I could PM you some questions let me know.

Dreamweaver is a good WYSIWYG HTML/XHTML progam with a lot of pre-defined layouts. It also works well with Fireworks and Photoshop for your image editing needs.

Edited to add: Managing your site and uploading through Dreamweaver is a breeze. I love it!

I use CoffeeCup -- can't remember how much it was, but totally worth it and it has a decent WYSIWYG program.

I am using Go Daddy and I'm finding they aren't all that user friendly. I'm usually pretty good with this stuff but this one is getting to me.
I'd love to use Dreamweaver as I hear they are real good but aren't they pricey?

I will say I've been plugging along on Go Daddys Website tonight and getting a bit better but I'm hung up on a form issues.

Mrsv- do you know how to add in a click on calendar within a form?

Yes, I used Website Tonight and found it pretty easy to use. I do have some knowledge of code but am by no means an expert. Here is the site I made:
www.ekrep.com

I created the custom background using GIMP (a free program to manipulate images) and then added it in to the template. Feel free to PM me with questions and I will see what I can do. :flower3:

I have used CoffeeCup also and find it a good program though more user intensive as compared to GODaddy

Do you mean how do you add an event on the calendar? Double click on the calendar itself and then double click on the day to add the event. If you go to our site I have a News and Events page and at the bottom I included a calendar. On there, you can click on the event for info and I also added external links. For example, our guys are going to a trade show in Anaheim. I put the dates of the show and if you click or even mouse over it, you can also see and click on the link for the show for details.

Let me know if I can help, I will do my best!
