We are going to be a party of 6 (3 being teen and preteen girls). We are planning on staying at the Desert Palms but I have been hearing about RI Maingate (the one on Katella..I believe with the kids suite). My question is how far apart are they from each other. We were planning on walking from Desert Palms w/o worry (we are a WDW family so walking is no big deal). I am just looking for any advice on those 2 hotels we are trying to decide between.
Thanks in advance

I would stay at the one on Clemintine in the Penthouse suite, we have stayed there many times and like it when we are not staying on site. Great breakfast, free grocery shopping, etc..can not help with Desert Palms.

Thanks for the reply. I have not heard of the one on Clementine. How far is it from DL Main Entrance? 2 bathrooms? I think I am getting confused with all the Ramada Inns or suites or Residence Inn. These seems to be so many.

You may be thinking of the other Residence Inn that is called the "Residence Inn Resort Area". It is located on Katella, and we stayed there a few years ago with two large groups. It does have kid suites, but is not as close to DL as the main gate RI.

This RI is almost a mile south of the Desert Palms.

RI Maingate on Clemintine is great as Jack has said. The Penthouse Suites or Bi-Level Lofts will easily accommodate your party of 6 and the pre-teens will appreciate having a bit more space. The included breakfast is very filling and not just fruit/bagels but also has hot offerings and waffles.

Many people say it is a long walk, but to be honest we timed it and it never took more than 10 minutes, and most of that time was spent waiting at the traffic lights to cross. Straight down Disneyway (I think that's what the road is called) and then onto Harbor.

As above, there is also the RI 'Garden Grove' which is a further distance.

Well I guess change of plans. At RI Maingate they only have the 1 bedroom suite for our dates. I'm not so sure DD15 oe her friend (our 6th guest) would enjoy sleeping a few feet from DH. So I guess it Desert Palms (they have that separate bedroom) unless anyone else has other suggestions.
