My sister is in Disney now and I keep on hearing about school bread. Can someone describe it and is it in Norway at Epcot? What else beside Dole Whips should I suggest she try? Wish I was with her:cool1: Thanks!

I LOVE school bread, which can be found at Norway's bakery at Epcot. It's basically a slightly sweet roll, with custard in the center, and topped with a lot of coconut.

If she likes creme brulee, the Patisserie at France usually has it.

sorry about the big picture, not sure how to downsize it, but this bread is yummy...

Hmm...the coconut looks familiar, but not the shape of the roll or the placement of the custard. Was that taken recently?

Mmmmm, that looks so good, does anyone know if I get can that with one of my snack credits from the DDP? TIA I am going to have to get that :cool1:

I can describe it in one word: YUMMY!!

It is like a custard donut topped with coconut. But it's so much better than a regular donut. It is big, so sharing is always good. Or eating half and saving the rest for the next morning. The custard is inside, but there is some "frosting" on the top to keep the coconut from just falling off.

And yes, you get it in Norway at Epcot.

I've actually never had a Dole Whip. I know, I'm one of the few. I'll get to it eventually. I had my first Mickey Bar on our trip back in Nov.

And if I'm remembering correctly, yes, it was 1 snack credit.

The dole whips are so good, don't pass it up next time. I try to have one different thing each time I go to Disney and this trip it is going to be school bread, better start wtaching what I eat now so I can do the big calorie things I wanna try

With all the walking you do at Disney, you'll burn off the calories with no problem.

Is it kind of a custard donut dipped in coconut??

Unless I'm mistaken, donuts are deep fried in oil. School bread is baked (like bread), and is not very sweet. The coconut is on the top of the bread, rather than all over it as donuts might be.

It is amazing. It is a not too sweet roll filled with not too sweet light and whipped and cream custard and covered with icing and fresh coconut. I cannot wait to get to Epcot a week from tomorrow and inhale one, or two :goodvibes

I thought the outside of the school bread was a little dry; but once I hit the custard I was very impressed. A good sized pastry for only about $2.50!

Now THAT photo is exactly what mine looked like!

Anything from Norway bakery is good, DH can't get enough of the chocolate mousse cake they make. All are DDP snacks (except sandwixhes and similar).

What does your sister just have to try at WDW? I am waiting patiently to get a cupcake from Boardwalk Bakery. I love them! And carrot cake from Main Street Bakery and Minnie strawberry bars and fruit ounch we can't get in the UK. Ok I'll shut up now...

Thanks everyone! I will call her cell now to fill her in. I want some, too, but will have to wait for our next trip, which probably won't be until 2009 - boo hoo.
