Depressing Songs

How about "Ya Picked A Fine Time To Leave Me, Lucille" by Willie Nelson. "Four hungry kids and a crop in the field..." ::yes::

I've had some bad times. Lived through some sad times. This time the hurtin' won't heal. :thumbsup2

'In the Arms Of An Angel' Sarah McLachlan

'I Can't Make You Love Me' Bonny Raitt

It was Kenny Rogers not George Jones....although George could have sang it well.

He stopped loving her today...they placed a wreath upon his door...that was George

"When she loved me"

Josh Groban's "O Holy Night" gets me everytime, then they play the "Christmas shoes" song and when I come in...DH asks, "what's the matter?"

The end of "Wishes"

Whitney Houston's "Star Spangled Banner"

Does anyone remember "Coat of Many Colors" by Dolly Parton....or "I will always love you"

Great song, but if we're thinking of the same song, it's by Kenny Rogers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucille_(Kenny_Rogers_song)

Though, I'm sure Willie Nelson also had a few depressing songs. I can't think of a single country singer that doesn't and some had entire albums of them :upsidedow

Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd always makes me feel down

Sometimes if it's on the radio and I'm in a "mood" these lines actually make me cry:

When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye

I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone

I come and stand at every door, by This Mortal Coil.

Mad World, by pretty much everybody who's done it.

Good riddance
, by Green Day.

Time to say goodbye, particularly the version by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli

Actually, I've got a whole playlist of these.

Les Miserables - I Dreamed A Dream

From the short clips I have heard, Anne Hathaway's may be my favorite version.

In the spirit of "Alyssa Lies" there is also "Concrete Angel" both are very sad songs

Holes in the Floor of Heaven
--that one makes me cry every time

Beautiful song but I can't even listen to Josh Groban's "To Where you are," I have to change the channel

Does anyone remember "Coat of Many Colors" by Dolly Parton....

Yes... and I can't listen to it while driving as it makes my eyes fill up - even though I know it's cheesy as anything

So with patches on my britches
Holes in both my shoes
In my coat of many colors
I hurried off to school
Just to find the others laughing
And making fun of me
In my coat of many colors
My momma made for me

And oh I couldnt understand it
For I felt I was rich
And I told them of the love
My momma sewed in every stitch....

:sad1:

"You are my sunshine".

For some reason, people seem to think this is a happy song, but only if you only sing that one verse (it is actually the second verse, I think).

Others include:

The other night dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried.

You told me once, dear, you really loved me
And no one else could come between.
But now you've left me and love another;
You have shattered all of my dreams:

lukea by suzanne vega

Crazy love by poco i can't listen to that song it makes me cry:sad1: long and winding road by the beatles and also yesterday by the beatles.

Angel by Sarah McLachlan NOT Aerosmith :rotfl:
Do What You Have To Do by Sarah McLachlan
If I Die Young by The Band Perry

Pretty much every song by my favorite band, Type O Negative....:lmao:
