I am sorry if this questions has been asked over and over again; however, with search off I need to ask.

We most likely will want to re-book while on board the Magic next week (even though I am not enjoying packing for four for a cruise). Once we book it, how soon do you have to put down the $1,000. Can you send them the money when you get home? Do they give you a week or even 48 hours? I really do not want to carry the extra $1,000 with us and want to keep our credit cards open since we are staying at WDW after.

Thank you.

It is my understanding that you put the deposit down right then. I really wish they would give you x number of days after to decide when you could go again.

When we rebooked this past June we paid our deposit ($250 pp) then. However, I do think there is some sort of grace period. You might want to call DCL to inquire. The following is from DCL's website:

"Deposit/Payment Information
A deposit is required to confirm a reservation. Deposit amount will be determined at time of booking. Vacation and cruise packages are subject to cancellation if full deposit is not received in our office within the option period specified at time of booking. Final payment in the form of a check or credit card (Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover® Card, Diners Club®, Japanese Credit Bureau or Disney's Visa® Credit Card) must be received on the date determined at the time of booking. Payment policy for group travel may vary. Please contact your Travel Agent for complete details.

To take advantage of the on board credit and the percent off you need to put the deposit down when you book. If you book once off you will not ge the percent off or the credit. I know it is a big amount to come up with. But I just did not want to lose the money or the percent off.

You have to put the money down before you disembark the ship, or the reservation is cancelled and you'll lose all on-board booking incentives (10% off and $200 room credit). When we were booking on board, we initially only re-booked for 2006. When we decided to find out about 2005 too, we just had Danielle do the quote and hold the reservation. This was on Friday afternoon, and she told me that if I hadn't put a deposit down by Friday at Midnight (when she gets off) she would then cancel out the reservation. I also don't believe Danielle is set up to receive cash for deposits. She always was using credit cards, and if you wanted to use the one you were charging your shipboard account to, she was able to look it up, but it wasn't charged to your shipboard account. If you're planning on booking, and don't want to tie up your credit card, just send the money to your credit card to create a debit balance or deposit it in your checking account and give Danielle your Debit card to take the deposit.

Thanks for all of the quick replies. I guess I will just transfer another $1,000 to my debit card before I leave home. I wish though they gave you a couple of days after you get home to pay for the deposit.

I do seem to remember someone on here saying that they got off of the ship and were able to put the deposit down the next day. Am I dreaming? I remembered this specifically because I too do not want to bring extra money or charge to a credit card.

Has anyone ever paid the deposit a day after getting off the ship?

Couldn't one just book for "one" and therefore only have to put down 250?

We were on the 11/14 Wonder. We rebooked onboard with Stephanie on the last night. We specifically had to ask to pay the deposit after we disembarked. She wasn't sure if we'd have 3 days or 5 days to pay. She booked us and gave us our ressie confirmation number. Two days later I called DCL and gave them the credit card # for the deposit. No hassles, no problems.

I don't think they "offer" this because they do want your $$$ as soon as possible, but if you know to ask, you can pay later.

No, for two reasons. First, when I rebooked on board last week, the DCL rep said any later additions would book at the going price at that time.

Second, DCL limits the number of kids in each age group who can book, so you wouldn't want to risk getting shut out if the cruise filled up fast (probably not a huge risk if you are booking early).

Re: payment now, if you book with the Disney Visa (issued by Bank One), you don't have to pay that off for six months (interest free).

Happy Cruising! :boat:

Also be aware that if you are booking a suite the deposit is $500.00 per person. Just think though that the money you put down is money you don't have to pay later :flower1: Have a great cruise.

I do not think I will have that problem--a suite is not an option for us at this time.

Ivanova: Thank you so much for the information. I will go for it!!!
