Deployment..

So many of you were supportive and kind when my DS, Mike, was deployed to U bekistan last year. I just wanted to let you know that he has rec'd orders to the Middle East AGAIN, he has been back for only 7 months... not only that but my grandson's mom, who is also in the Army and has a 4 month old in addition to Tra, has rec'd orders... so that means she will have to send the kids to her parents for an unknown period of time. That means that father, stepfather and mother will be in a war one. (Many other soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen are in the same situation) She let her folks know that we would come get Tra and his brother anytime if they needed a break or some help. My heart is breaking for our military members and families. They appreciate our support.
What are we doing? Why are we doing it? Do we even have support of our allies? These questions are rhetorical.
and mind numbing for me...

Again I request prayer for a peaceful solution to this insanity.

I know how you are feeling. My twin nephews were called up last week. One of the boys had a wedding planned for Feb. 22 --ended up marrying Jan 12-the day after they got their orders. They maybe gone a year or more.....

They have been training for near 6 years---one was do out in April---Military put a hold on all discharges in their unit future notice. This isn't the best of days for our family--but we'll get thru it together.

WHAT allies?!?! No one seems to agree that the USA is doing the right thing. We look like the agressers in this. Maybe I should say, George W. looks like the agresser!

My heart breaks for all of you so personally affected by this. On the news here in Boston last night, they showed a simple ceremony before sending out some National Guard members, and of course the private stories of sons leaving mothers, husbands leaving wives and children. It overwhelms me when I think of the sacrifice all of you are making, and I'm so sorry for the worry and anxiety that will follow. The prayers and good wishes from around this country are with you, and I hope in the days ahead you feel that support.

I live close to Ft. Hood and have 2 friends whose husbands are in 4th ID that got orders that 12,500 are on alert....both should be deployed within 3 weeks. Another good friend says her husband was told he will still be allowed to get out end of February, but he also has an injury that would prevent him from doing his regular job if deployed.

My heart goes out to all the families.

Please thank your family and friends in the miltary for me, for so bravely defending our freedom. My prayers are with all of our military personnel.

As far as what are we doing...it seems to me that many people in the country are asking what are we doing?? I think we need to make a statement to those who may consider attacking us that we will not tolerate it. We are all well aware that there are many nations and terriorist factions that will not hesitate to attack us. The WTC/Pentagon attacks set the example of how it would be possible to do so. Did any of us really ever think that something of that magnitude would happen here? I certainly didn't. Some of the past terrorist "events" (ie-the USS Cole and the embassy bombing) did not receive as strong of a response from us as they should have, so I believe that many of these terrorist-based or terrorist-supporting countries now believe we are an easier target. I also firmly believe that Saddam Hussein can say all he wants that he doesn't have any nuclear capabilities...somewhere in that country, he does. I also believe that he helped Al Qaeda with their attack on us, and is probably harboring or has harbored Bin Laden.

I don't think anyone looks for war, I don't think anyone wants a war, but how many times does our nation get attacked(whether on our own soil or when our citizens are in other parts of the world) before we respond? Obviously, none of our miltary members are looking forward to going to war, and I don't blame them. But it is clear when you make the choice to join the military that war is one of the possibilities of the job.

I will continue to say multiple prayers that are all kept safe, and this situation is resolved as quickly and effectively as possible.
