Hi,

DH needs a dependable taxi service that will pick him up at BLT around 3AM so he can get a 6am flight and then pick him up later in the week at MCO and bring him back to BLT.

Help!!!! It is imperative that he doesn't miss the 6AM flight so he really needs a good dependable company. Also, any idea of the cost?????? We'd like to keep it as low as we can, but not so low that we get a no-show.

Thanks!

Taxi would be about $55 (give or take $5) plus tip. Mears is the only cab company officially permitted to pick up on Disney property, and if there's no taxi waiting - not sure of the set-up, he might have to use the Contemporary's front entrance - Bell Services will be able to get one quickly.

For the return trip, check the MCO website (Google Orlando International Airport, or look here for a thread started by TheresaNY asking about meeting someone at the gate in Orlando - there are some airport links in that thread). Any cab company authorized to operate out of the airport would be equally reliable - just make sure the cab has a meter and the driver uses it!

Or, consider a car service. My brother had an early flight last year - not quite as early as your husband - and was very satisfied with the car service he used. You have a PM, or will momentarily :)

Allow a half hour more time going back to the airport (i.e. prepare to leave at 2:30). This way if something doesn't go just right you won't be so anxious.

Mears owns both the Yellow and Checker taxi companies in Orlando.

Do you really think the OP's husband needs to leave the resort at 2:30 in the morning to catch a 6 AM departure?

I'm with you.....................no one needs to get to the airport 3 hours early only to end up sitting around twiddling their thumbs :rotfl: I understand that Magical Express insists on it but that's just to cover their behinds. Not that I'm recommending it to others but we returned our rental in December 1 hour before our flight and made it (admittedly we were tight but that was more because we took 20 minutes cleaning out the rental, something we should have already done before we left the hotel). Two hours is more than sufficient even with lines (curbside check-in saves a lot of time and rarely has much of a line;)).

eta: I see pp removed his post.............maybe he/she misunderstood and thought OP was taking Magical express

I fully support Magical Express's requirement that Guests be picked up three hours (+/- fifteen minutes). There's so much more involved - other Guests, checking everyone in, stowing luggage, likely stopping at one or more other resorts...

A taxi transporting ONE passenger with little or no luggage? Not so much. I'd even suggest a 4 AM departure, but I fully understand the OP's husband's NEED to make the flight - so wanting to leave the resort at 3.

Perhaps you misunderstood.................I said I understood ME's policy (they have to COA and like you said alot of factors come into play when determining how long the trip will take). But the OP isn't taking ME, they're talking about a taxi:)

Oh, no - I completely understood! I even understood - without asking - that the OP's husband can't even use Magical Express for this sojourn because they'll be using it on arrival and departure.

No, I was just making my own commentary :teeth:

Thank you all so much for your help. DH will probably take a private car. I'm sure they'll let him know what time he needs to be picked up. Now if we could just guarantee no snow to hold him up on either leg of the flight...........:wizard:
