Today at a local nursery that has the most amazing amazing Christmas decorations had a Fall Family Day kind of thing. Well they some retired 56 pieces for 50% off. I snagged up 3 of them, 1 Halloween and 1 North Pole and 1 Christmas in the City. It was really fun, they had a little craft for the kids and a free personalized pumpkin and ice cream. It was awesome.

So, does anyone else collect the 56 village pieces? DH and I got into them last year and bought 7 pieces last year:eek:, so needless to say getting these on sale was a major plus LOL!

I used to collect the Dickens village, I haven't bought any new pieces in years.

We have a collection of Dept. 56. The "Snow Village" is our collection - but I have a few other villges mixed in.

Hi!

There are some cute Disney village Houses this year. I have seen them at Target and Eckerds. There is a Cinderella's Castle, Snow White's house, a "Main Street"-type house, and I think one other design, but I can't remember what it is. They aren't Dept 56, but cute enough.

Congrats on your Dept 56 purchases! :)

Dept. 56 villages are so beautiful, and detailed...I love looking at them in stores, but I've never wanted to spend that much money on the pieces. My holiday village (11 major pieces, accessories, etc. that I put on "snow" in our bay window in the family room) came from Wal-Mart!! ;)

I started collecting the Snow Village a few years ago. I also have a couple pieces of the Summer Bay series. I usually set it up in late October or early Nov. and leave it up most of the winter, so I get a lot of use out of it. Debby

I got a few New England Village pieces for my wedding. So then I bought a few more for myself. I don't have much room for them, so I really can't buy any more.

These Dept 56 pieces are new this year and we will be taking pre-orders in the DISshop this week. E-mail me (link below) or PM is you want advance notice of this. These pieces are limited and will go FAST!!!

Kohl's has the St. Nicholas Line. All my buildings are St. Nicholas, but I have a few accessories I like to add from different area's when we go on vacation that I find in gift shops.

I collect Department 56. Christmas in the City is my collection. I started about 4 or 5 years ago. I am not sure any more how many buildings I have, I think 15-17. I love them, they are completely addicting. I think I am in trouble with the Disney pieces shown in this thread!!!

DH and I received 2 Dept. 56 Snow Villages pieces as a gift the first Christmas after we were married. That was 11 years ago and we have a beautiful collection of pieces. I honestly think the accessories really make the lay-out. We debated collecting the Halloween ones but decided against it for now but, those Disney pieces are very tempting!!!

I ordered that Mickey's North Pole Holiday House back in July from the place we went to today and they said it should be in sometime in September...I asked today and no shipping info yet:rolleyes: I think it is way to cute!! I have the North Pole series in my son's bedroom. He has had the Crayola Factory light on EVERY night since last December. We have the Christmas in the City in our living room and Dickens Village in the dining room.

I called Dept 56 last week and they said they were shipping the Disney pieces in early-mid October!

I have probably close to 100 pieces of Snow Village that I put up every year. In my living room, I put up a 3-tier display of all the "Northwoods" type pieces such as the fishing, hunting and ski lodges, tree farm, etc. In my kitchen I have all the "city" type buildings like the bank, post office, library, church, etc. In my dining room I have all the "suburban" houses, hockey rink, treehouse, etc.

It takes an entire weekend to set it all up every year, but I love it.

I also have a Halloween village, but it is the Spookytown one from Michaels. The buildings and accessories are every bit as detailed as Dept. 56, but for a lot less money.

I collect the Christmas in the City series, and I also have the retired Disney Heritage Village series that Dept. 56 did a few years ago. I agree--it's addicting. :teeth:

I might have to do some shopping..
That looks too neat...:)

We collect the Dicken's Village. I got my Mom hooked on them also. :)

I would like to start the North Pole series for DD. It would be nice for her to have a collection when she is older. :)

We collect Dept. 56 Dicken's Village series. We have about 14 larger pieces and a bunch of accessories such as a cemetery, benches, lighting etc. It takes my dh an entire day to set it up each year. I just bought a few more accessories for it this past weekend.:D

My DH collects the Dickens Village pieces. Wait until he finds out they have Disney pieces. Oh no.

QUESTION: How do you display your villages? DH made a long narrow table that fits in the bay window/wall in our family room, but it's still not enough room. That's why he hasn't bought any new pieces in a while.

I collect Christmas in the City and DH has the Halloween Snow Village houses. We leave them up all year long. We have shelves high on the kitchen and family room walls and they're on timers.

We each usually get one house per year - him at Halloween and me at Christmas.

They're beautiful!
