Hey there..do we have any folks from Denver here??
I am looking for a tidbit of info..it is possible we are taking our son to participate in the North American Indigineous Games taking place in Denver this summer.
We have booked a room at the Marriot in downtown denver...does anyone have any feedback on this hotel? We got a group rate of 89.00 a night..
I just hope it is a great hotel..we have never been to Denver so I have no background on this hotel at all..other than the what the hotel website tells me!
As well..how far from this hotel to 6 flags??
Thanks..you guys!

First, which Marriott in LoDo (our term for Downtown)? Is it 18th and California? Or 16th and Welton (i think that is the cross street anyway, been a while)?

All the hotels in the area are decent but get lots of traffic too, so do not be surprised if some things just seem worn or tired looking... When I had to visit multiple times before moving out here they were always clean so I had no issues. :)

Elitch Gardens is only 5 minutes away from the 16th Street Mall by car, a little longer if you take the shuttles or lightrail...either way it is very easy to get to.

Do not know when they are opening for the season, but did drive by yesterday and saw them doing the check-ups and starting maintenance on several of the rides. HTH! :thumbsup2

My inlaws live in Disney and dh and I lived there for a year when we first got married. I never actually stayed at the Marriott in downtown but we went to a seminar for friends there one time and it's a very very nice hotel. I would love to stay downtown, so much to see and do. 16th street is awesome, lots of neat stores and resturants. And the Tabor center is there too, has the Cheesecake Factory, yum. Elitch 6 flags is very close to downtown, only a few minutes away like the PP said. You could easily get there via the lightrail. There is also the aquarium & Childrens museum in that area. Plus all 3 areas, the Pepsi Center, the baseball stadium and Invesco Fields where the Broncos play. All the things to see and do in Denver all seem to be in the downtown Denver area. Try to take a drive up the mountains if you have time, there are short little trips you can take and you get to see little mountain towns and all.

Have a great trip, we were there last last June but due to our Ireland trip, we won't be getting there this year.

yes it is the one on California that we booked.. as long as it is really clean and in a nice area i am good!
sounds like there is lots to do around there..
i hope it is a easy city to get around in..ds if he goes will be competing at the National Western Complex and the University of Denver..
