Not Denise, but our computer had a virus this past Saturday myself. Can you believe that I got it downloading some Nemo stuff off of the Disney website??? It was a Trojan.

Norton did not pick it up until it was installed and then doggoned Norton could not repair, quarintine, or delete the file. We ended up just deleting the file that was infected. And I think that the computer has been acting squirrelly since there.

Viruses - BLECH!!!

Hey, I'm here. I finally got rid of the stupid Belt.exe trojan virus last night! I've actually just been really busy and haven't had time to post. The most annoying thing is that it kept kicking me out of IE! I think I have all my puter problems solved, but going to have neighbor who is majoring in computers check it out for me when he's home next week. I ran Norton again and it's saying I'm clean! Yeah!

Why YES, it WAS the BELT.exe Trojan!!!

What a coincidence! Where do you think that you got it Denise? I always feel so safe since I run an up to date virus protection, but this is the second virus that I have had in a couple of months. Grrrrr!

Beth - I have no idea why or where I got it from but I'd like to ring all the jerks out there who create these things!

Mal - I did see your post to my question, thanks so much because you pointed me in the right direction.

I've run Ad-aware, Norton, Spybot and Hijackthis as well as searching for any files with the name belt in it and I think I've covered all my bases. Still having major problems with IE kicking me out though.

I STILL think that we are suffering the effects of that stupid thing!!!

I read some of the stuff at the sites that Mal posted above. But I think that the MOST important thing is to make sure that your virus protection and the virus definations are up to date, and THEN run a virus scan on your entire machine - ALL files!

Hopefully your virus program will then be able to remove/repair this nasty thing.

I don't know WHAT it does, but I do know that our computer just has not seemed to be quite right since we have had that thing.

One odd thing, ever since we had the virus, there are only two programs in our Add/Remove Programs list in the Control Panel.

although I keep my firefall on and VDefs up to date I do not run a scan as often as I should....mine IE is acting weird also so keeping my fingers crossed it is not BELT!

XXXXXXXXXX Got all my fingers and toes crossed for you Mal! Let us know what happens. Make sure you update windows too. I was notified of a security update this morning that I downloaded.

I have windows set to auto update and it has done so twice in the last 2 days!

I had Gator and I think that might be what is messing up my IE thanks goodness I did not have Belt! It sounds like a real bugger.
