hi all,

so i am hoping to be able to squeeze in a bit of resort hopping when i visit in february. while i would love to see every resort i just don't think i'll have enough time. i am wondering if i can see all the deluxe resorts in one day/afternoon? are all of the deluxe resorts on the monorail line? if so, i should be able to hop on and off and see them all, at least briefly yes? i really want to see contemporary, wilderness lodge, floridian, polynesian, yacht club... i know that's a lot for one day!

also, i am staying at POR, and i'm wondering how i would get to/how close fort wilderness is. i heard there is a barn there with the horses that work in MK and i love horses so i'd love to see them!

other than that, if there are any resorts close to POR that would be worthwhile and easy-ish to visit (ok i'm sure they are all worthwhile!!) please let me know!

First of all you will need to do a bit of research. Find a good map of WDW that shows the location of the various resorts. I'll try to post a couple of links.

Here's one: http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/propertymap.htm

Here's another: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/maps/ (on the filter drop down menu, select resorts)

This one might be clearer: http://kingdommagictravel.com/disneyworld/pdf/wdw_roadmap.pdf

Not all of the deluxe resorts are on the monorail line. The MK area resorts are on the MK monorail. The Epcot resorts are between Epcot and DHS. WL is near the MK area resorts. AKL is off by itself, near AK.

The only resort close to POR is POFQ. To visit any other resort using Disney transport, take a bus to the park closest to the resort you are interested in. Then either take the monorail for a MK resort, or a bus or boat to reach the resort you are interested in. This can be very time consuming if you are exploring them all in one day. You can find more info on how to get from place to place at WDW using Disney transport by looking at the sticky on the transportation forum.

I would have a look at a map of wdw to give yourself some perspective. It's a huge place.
Yes you can resort hop. I'd take the bus to MK, there is a boat from MK to Ft. wilderness. Then from Ft. W. you can take a boat to the Contemporary, continue on monorail for Poly & GF.

Getting to Yacht or Beach Club in the Epcot area, from MK area, you'd either have to take monorail to Epcot and walk thru park and out World Showcase exit to YC/BC or go back to MK and hop on the YC bus. The other option is to go to Hollywood Studios park, and hop on the Friendship Boat to get to YC.

Hi,
We will be staying at POFQ in February. It is a nice stroll between POR and POFQ, along the water - you can also take a boat from both POR and POFQ to Downtown Disney. I believe that at Downtown you can take a boat to SSR - you go by the treehouses while on the boat ride which look really cool. The monorail loop takes care of Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian. I haven't been to Fort Wilderness in years, not since they built the lodge. We stayed at the campgrounds in 1992. We are eating at Fort Wilderness one night in our next trip because I have been dying to get back over there. The best way to get there is to take a boat from the Magic Kingdom over and back. After eating dinner at Trails End, we will walk over to the Wilderness Lodge. From what I have read, it is about a 15 minute walk from the Trails End Restaurant. Have a great time!

Here's how I would start

Take bus to MK.
Take boat to WL.
Take boat to Fort Wilderness
Take return boat to MK
Take monorail to Contemporary Resort
Take monorail to Poly
Take monorail to Grand Floridian
Take monorail to MK
Bus back to your resort.

If you still have time, instead of bus from MK back to your resort, take bus from MK to Beach Club/Yacht Club then walk to Boardwalk and Swan and Dolphin.

The YC is not a MK-area resort and it will take a bit of traveling to get there. Here is how I would get the ones that you listed in, and maybe a few more.

  • Start by driving or taking the bus to the MK.
  • If driving, walk to the Poly from the TTC. If taking the bus, take a boat to the Poly.
  • Take monorail to GF.
  • Take boat to MK and walk to CR (monorail takes just as long if not longer).
  • Take boat to WL.
  • Take bus to HS. Walk or take boat to BWI.
  • Take boat or walk to YC and then BC. If you walk from BWI, take a stroll past the Swan and Dolphin and check out their lobbies.
  • Take boat back to HS and catch a bus to AKL.
  • Take internal shuttle to Kidani.
  • Grab a bus to DtD where you can get something to eat, shop and catch a bus back to your resort or head to any other resort that you might have time to visit. My personal preference would be to check out CSR or AoA.

Whichever way you choose to go, have fun and take the time to enjoy the unique decorating and walk around the themed pools.
