So the family rooms on the dream/fantasy,

It *looks* like there is only room for 4, but they say that they sleep 5.
They say that there is a queen (2ppl), a convertible couch (1person), and either a wall pull down OR a ceiling pull down (1).

Just wondering if there is actually sleeping room for 5 or not. Do they actually have the wall pull down AND the ceiling pull down, or is it really only one or the other?

Just curious since I was confused while reading the descriptions.
Thanks!

For 5 people the cabin will have the murphy bed and the pull down ceiling bed in addition to the couch. This is for cat. 4 and 8's.

It is the main bed, the one person sleeper sofa, the pull down over the sofa and a murphy bed near the window.

I have heard there is really enough room for people sleeping 5 in this room but we still opt for 2 connecting cabins

Is there room for 5 in every category 4? We have a 4E on the Fantasy, and right now it is just two adults, but just wondering the possibility if more people needed to be added.

We are in room 5052 - I think? It has an extended veranda and was reclassified after being a 5E

Any time you see the word family it means it sleeps five. ;) hope that helps.

This is incorrect. On the Dream, we were in a 4C 7122, it ONLY sleeps 4. Queen bed, sofa bed, ceiling bunk. In its connecting room 7124, also a 4C deluxe family oceanview w/ veranda, had the above mentioned beds, AND the Murphy bed.

We were in a cat 4a. Yes there is enough room for 5. I would save your money, and just book one room. We were only in our room to shower and sleep. I think the smaller verandah would have been just fine for my family of 4.

There may be some staterooms that do not follow that rule, Family usually means sleeps five and Deluxe usually means split bathrooms.

There may be some staterooms that do not follow that rule, but I work for DCL and Family usually means sleeps five and Deluxe means split bathrooms.
Just confirm, category 8 is known as family oceanview, but only a portion of them fit five, none of the cat 8A fit five, only some 8B-D do.

Sorry, but according to DCL, that is incorrect. For the Dream & Fantasy:

Deluxe FAMILY Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah:
Specifications
Sleeps: 3 to 5
Size: 299 sq. ft. including verandah
Room Configuration: Queen-size bed, single convertible sofa, wall pull-down bed (in most) and upper berth pull-down bed (in some), split bath with round tub (in most) and shower
View: Private verandah

CONCIERGE Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah:
Specifications
Sleeps: 5
Size: 306 sq. ft. including verandah
Room Configuration: Queen-size bed, double convertible sofa, upper berth pull-down bed, full bath (vanity, sink, round tub and shower), half bath (vanity, sink and toilet)
View: Private verandah

FAMILY to DCL means it is simply a larger stateroom than the norm.

:thumbsup2

Perhaps this may be a case of shoreside being misinformed, as often happens and is proven on a daily basis with DCL.

Since that cabin was originally a cat. 5E it would not sleep 5, only 3 or 4.

Deluxe means split bathrooms.

Category 8A on the Dream/Fantasy are classified as deluxe family oceanview staterooms. None of them have split bathrooms, and some of them only sleep 3.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed to find the large number of Cat. 8 cabins that DO NOT sleep 5. I think it is a bit of a shame as when the Dream was first announced, it appeared that they had really worked to make their cruises more affordable for a family of 5. They have, but only in very limited numbers. Seems there should have been a way to increase the occupancy to 5 in more of those Cat. 8 Deluxe Family Staterooms. Won't keep me from cruising though! :goodvibes

• Categories: 8A, 8B, 8C, 8D
• Sleeps: 3 to 5
• Size: 241 sq. ft. including verandah
• Room Configuration:
- Queen-size bed,
- Single convertible sofa,
- Wall pull-down bed (in most)
- Upper berth pull-down bed (in some)
-Split bath with round tub and shower
- Couch, desk, chair
• View: One large porthole window with built-in seating.

You also enjoy the convenience of a split bath, complete
with a round tub with a built-in seat, a rain-style shower,
a hand-held showerhead and separate sinks that allow for
multiple people to use the space at the same time. Best
of all, all of these staterooms have a porthole window seat,
nearly 5 feet in diameter, outfitted with a comfy cushion;
allowing you and your loved ones to witness incredible
sunrises and stunning sunsets from the comfort of
your room.

I hope my 8D's have the split bath. I can't imagine 5 people trying to get ready with one bathroom.

It is the category 8A that does not have the split bath. not the 8D.

There are twelve 8A staterooms. They are either on Deck 5 or Deck 6. None of them have a split bath. The one I was in would only sleep 3, as there was no bunk. They also have two portholes rather than one porthole. Not sure why that writeup mentions a verandah as the Category 8 are not verandah staterooms.

At least in my 8A stateroom (5022) while there was padding in the portholes, they were not wide enough to lie on or sit in sideways, although someone could sit on them with their back to the porthole. So if you are looking to lie in the porthole, don't book a room with the layout of 5022 (there are four rooms on deck 5 with this layout).

I can't find where I copied that from now. This is good info to know though. I thought the 2 windows would be neat but not at the expense of a split bath.

Would that also mean that it is not as big with the extra interior space I guess and the extra chair by the couch? Also, would the bathroom include a round tub? Sorry I am just confused since it was a 5E and now is a 4E
