During our stay at AKL, there were activities such as, watching the animals through night vision goggles, Mickey Safari, playing drums at Boma, etc...

We're trying to decide where to go on our next trip and would like to stay somewhere that has lots of activities at the resort. So, please tell me about all the fun you had at a deluxe or DVC resort! TIA!!!

My ds like the activities at the Polynesian. They are older now and just do the arcade challenge, free video games for 1 hour a few times a week, they also have pool games like basketball etc, and hula lessons, in the lobby they teach them too, like the ds learned how to do the poi balls and they have the torch lighting and certain afternoons there are arts and crafts and movies in the neverland club, parents must stay with the children, they also have arts and crafts in the lobby sometimes, mostly making leis or bracelets etc. Just bring your resort id etc. The island times newspaper you receive at check in lists all the activities during the week and times etc.

Don't know much about the free activities, but i do know my son highly rated the neverland club (paid childcare) in the Polynesian Resort. It has a Peter Pan theme - they get dinner, watch a film, do various activities and free arcade games. Plus, you get to leave them whilst you go out for a nice meal. He went there when he was 5 and still wants to go back at 11, so i would say it is probably suitable for most ages.

We're open to any activites at the resorts and trying to decide which to stay at based on them. That sounds like fun! Thanks!

My girls loved the activities at OKW more than going to the parks at one point in their lives!! They have 2 or 3 activities planned each day (about 1/2 have a charge of some sort but usually pretty nominal)...favorite freebies are the weekly "unbirthday party" ...a grand BD party for no one/everyone, pool games, scavenger hunts...plus the community hall has foos ball, all kinds of board games, arts and crafts stuff, free computer games, ping pong, shuffleboard, tennis, badminton, basketball, playground etc. The guy that worked there was always so friendly...my girls couldn't wait to get there and see him each year.

Boardwalk has a great community hall also...it seems less used than OKW (don't know if that is because it is a smaller DVC or if it is just more out of the way so fewer kids use it)....not quite as many scheduled activities, but still an impressive schedule. And a great free glow in the dark air hockey table.

OKW's main pool is pretty awesome now with the sand castle slide (longest one at WDW except water parks they say). and BWV has a great pool too with the keister coaster.

All of the DVC resorts also have DVD players and free movie rentals/checkouts for members and those staying on points (small fee for cash guests).

OKW has lots of room to run, ride bikes, etc and you can rent paddle boats, mice or pontoon boats. Any of the DVC resorts will probably have similar schedules of planned activities and free stuff in community hall....they are true family resorts. My kids could have happily spent a week at one and never have ventured into the parks.
