Deluxe Dining Credits shared with regular dining credits

OK so there will be 12 of us going on our vacation with 4 rooms booked.

Can I upgrade one of the rooms that has 2 people in it to the DDx plan and then when we all go to dinner use more than just 2 of the deluxe credits (ideally 6 credits) so we can get 6 apps with our meals?

We would all be on the dining plan just be using more deluxe credits per dinner TS meal than people on the deluxe plan.

Hope that makes sense to what we want to do. I just don't know if it is allowed. I don't want to book it if it is not.

Unfortunately, this is still an unknown. The 2016 brochure no longer has the wording that restricted you from using your credits for those not on the plan, so for 2016 trips, you should be okay. If your trip is in 2015, you would be taking a chance since that brochure does state you cannot use your credits for those not on your plan.

Just in case you are unaware, Disney Food Blog is not an official Disney site. OP, check out this post for a report of one person's experience with some of the unofficially reported changes after May 31st. Maybe all the restaurants and wait staff are on the same page now, but I wouldn't count on it. As sharonabe says, you would be taking a bit of a chance.

We have two rooms, and one is on the DxDDP. We are not sure how it will work, but we do know that we will order the appetizers and share them We are always over on ADR's so we know that room will not need to pay OOP. Other than that, we are gambling that we may share, but if not, no harm no foul. We never did before, and we will still use what we purchased. It will be interesting@

So all 4 rooms are linked together on the reservations. So there is no specific magic band for just one room therefor all the credits would be available as a pool on all the bands.

I guess the question is can I tell the server I want to use the Deluxe credits at dinner that has an appetizer option? Or does the server just pick what credits we use?

Well, I can share how we will handle this. We are also linked, and when we arrive we have decided to link all the bands to one credit card so every member of our group can spend. WIth this said, we are going to treat the credits as credits, and since we are all dining together with the exception of two meals, we plan on just ordering what we want. We know four people are DxDDP so those folks will order the appetizers. At home we always order a few for the table to share. If there are extra, we wil pay for those. If the server wants to divide who is who, we will agree. I am not sure how this will work, there are nine of us. We do not intend to make it difficult for the server, so we are prepared to do whatever the restaurant wants us to do. We know that until DIsney decides to put policy in writing we ae at teh mercy of every individual restaurant, but to be honest, every time we go to WDW, in regards to the DDP we choose, we have always felt that we were treated fairly,

Just because your reservations are "linked" does not mean credits will be pooled across the rooms. If each room has a separate reservation number, it will be by room. Only the bands of those registered in the DxDDP room can be used to pay for meals with credits.
