If I upgrade my hoppers when would be the best time to do so and what perks would I get if any? We're going 18th - 20th. Edited to say we will be using them any time between the 12 and the 20th that's when we'll be in Southern California :)

If you're going June 18th - 20th that is a Monday thru Wed, and there are no blockout dates involved for a Delux AP. If you have an EE on your three day park hoppers make sure to use them before you upgrade to an AP. When you upgrade to a Deluxe AP you get 10% off most Dining locations in DLR, DCA and the Hotels, also 20% off 'Walk in Walt's Footsteps' and 'Discover the Magic' Tours.

I heard that you get a "fast pass" with an AP?? And an EE?? Is that true?

You can get a Fast Pass with any ticket that you use to get into Disneyland. You can get one FAst Pass at a time, and once you get a fast pass, it will say on the Fast Pass when you are eligible to get your next FastPass. It is usually once your return window opens up or 2 hrs, whichever is soonest.

EE is early entry, and is only available if you are staying at DLR or Good Neighbor hotels or with certain packages (AAA). AP's do not get Early Entry unless they are staying at a DLR hotel, as far as I know. I am not an expert on EE, perhaps someone could clarify that more for you.

I will be going to DLR in June....June 22 thru the 26th to be exact. I have a 5 day park hopper from AAA and want to upgrade it to a Deluxe AP. So here are my questions.....if I upgrade it on my last day will I be able to go into the park? I know that a few days while i'm there is considered a "blackout" date and I don't want to be told I can't enter the park just because I upgraded too soon......also since I have a 5 day park hopper how much of a difference will I be paying for the AP's? Thanks!

The only blackout day for Deluxe AP's on your trip is on the 23rd. So you can either upgrade on that day or anyday after. If you upgrade on the 23rd, you will be able to get in without paying the $30 blackout fee. The only thing I'm unsure of (having never upgrading on a blackout day) is whether it'll affect you if you parkhop or leave the parks. You might have to stay in the park that day and not leave. Someone else should be able to tell you that for sure.

I'd personally suggest upgrading on the 24th. That way you don't have to deal with any of that blackout stuff and you can still get EE. So if it were me, I'd do EE on Sat. and then upgrade on Sunday. That way you still get 3 full days of dining discounts with your AP. It's amazing how that 10% discount really adds up. But that's totally up to you on when you upgrade. As long as it's Sat. or later you'll be fine.

How much it'll cost to upgrade depends on how much you purchased your 5 day hopper for. Basically it's the $239 for the AP minus whatever you paid for your hopper. So if you got it at regular advanced rate of $189, it'll cost you $50 to upgrade. Your AP will be good from the first date you used your parkhopper on.. so June 22, '07 to June 22, '08.

Hope that helps. :)

Mandi,

Wow! What awesome information! Thank You so much for taking the time to figure out the blackout dates and when to use EE and still obtain dining discounts! I appreciate it soo much!:goodvibes

You're welcome, Elaina. :) I have gotten so much valuable information from these boards. I'm happy to be able to pass some of it on. :goodvibes

I do not know too much about AP's, but I purchase a package and bought 5day park hoppers, however I will need to add days on, because we were able to get seats for he Fantasmic dessert reception. So my question is, is it worth to just invest in the AP or just purchase the extra days. What benefits will I lose or gain? Sorry I don't know too much about these. I am not sure if we will be able to visit again in a the year, but I would be willing to try.:) However if it is worth it for the discounts, it might be worth it. Thanks!
