Deluxe and FP

1) to the person who said I'm throwing my money around and mentioned people starving in India - to some people in this world you staying at a Value Resort and going to Walt Disney World is seen as you throwing your money around.. so stop the judgement.
2) to the person who can't believe that it cost $6,000 more to stay in a deluxe than a value have you tried to book a deluxe lately during peak season? Some of the rooms are going for over $1,000 a night and if you go for 8 to 10 days that definitely is at least $6,000 more
3) to the person who said that everyone spends the same amount in the park that is completely untrue some people bring their own water bottles which is fine they don't want to pay for the water in the Parks but I'm just saying people saying the value Resorts do not tend to spend the same amount of money as people in the deluxe Resorts do inside of the parks the restaurant souvenirs and little amenities really add up quickly and I really don't see value people paying that amount of money

So you want to add to

I’m considering a stay at the Poly next year and have been checking out pricing. Standard rooms at the Poly never go over $1000, and Lagoon View only do at the very, very highest of peak times (President’s Day, Easter, and Christmas). And, that’s rack rate. I’m waiting until I can see if I can get an agency exclusive rate for my dates before deciding whether or not to book.

and I really don't see value people paying that amount of money

And here we have the point of this thread. You seem to think that you are better than people who stay at value resorts, because you make assumptions about their spending habits. What exactly are value people? And what data do you have to support your assumption that they don't spend as much money in the parks or restaurants? Maybe some of them choose the less expensive hotels so they can spend more in the parks and restaurants? And you don't think people in deluxe resorts don't bring their own food/water into the parks? I know I do. If you stayed in a value resort and saved the $6,000, you could spend that money on the exclusive experiences you feel you deserve.

So true....because I would love to know what kind of person I am since I will be staying at a value resort for my upcoming trip? Please since you know my financial status better than I do.

I think you have an inaccurate representation of characteristics of people staying at a Value vs a Deluxe. I think you need to take a step back and look more about you and your spending habits rather than focus on your preconceived notations of those staying at a Value.

I don't mean this in a mean way it's just you seem to have an idea of what a person staying at a Value is.

Bringing in your own water isn't related to what resort you stay at period. You could be staying at the most expensive place around and still make that decision that spending $3 on a water bottle each time vs bringing in your own and either getting free courtesy cups or filling up your water bottle at water fountains is more worth it. Besides that how do you know just by looking at someone who brings in their own water bottles or just drinks the courtesy cups that they are staying at a Value vs a Deluxe? Only way I can see you would know is if they actually said something about where they are staying at and you knew what resort category that resort currently is under.

In a nutshell people spend money on what they want to. If you want to spend the money to stay Deluxe go for it. If you want to spend the money to stay Value go for that too. And if you want to spend the money on all the add ons go for that as well.

You miss read.
Everyone spends the same on tickets to get in the park not everyone spends the same in the parks

You just have a really skewed view of class hierarchy of Disney guest. You probably want to revaluate that

You and me both!! I get the feeling the perception is we are "unwashed masses" who should not be allowed to mingle with those staying in the Deluxe resorts - and maybe not even the Moderates - in the OPs mind.

As PP have said, there is no reason for Disney to need this perk to fill up the deluxe rooms. While I’m sure people would take advantage of it, it would just give Disney Guest Services headaches and plenty of complaints!
It's been said as well that eventually Disney would away from Value, Moderate, Deluxe and instead go more for locational areas for their categorie
And this was my other though. Soon enough, it will be difficult to differentiate for a lot of resorts. With the skyliner providing access for Pop and AoA, do those deserve to be in the same category as the all stars? And the cabins-are they really moderates or something completely different?

I set a budget for a trip. If we spend more on the resort i spend less in the parks. If i spend less on the resort i spend way more in the parks. The budget is the budget. Where i spend my percentages varies per trip. Your assessment is so far off.

We've usually stayed deluxe and many times deluxe cl. Does that mean I think I'm more entitled to FP+ than someone staying at a Value resort- NO WAY!

OP I have never idea if you realize how snobby you came off. It doesn't matter what level resort you stay at- the park tickets cost the same and no one cares which resort you are staying at. Some people stay value and then splurge in the deluxe dining plan. Should they get preferential treatment in restaurants?

Why don't guests staying in the deluxe resort to get some other benefits like more fast passes or something or extra magic hours just for them ....some of us are paying at least $6,000 more than those staying in the value resorts

Because FP are based on your purchase of a park ticket, not based on how many dollars you are spending on a place to sleep.

Having stayed at Universal delux hotels several times you do get to utilize your room key as a fast pass and it is a wonderful bonus. I love Disney but I must say that the perk was very nice.

Universal's Express Pass (EP) isn't the same as Disney's FastPass+ (FP+).

Currently Disney provides 3 FPs for each ticketed guest regardless of staying onsite or not. The difference is the booking window starts earlier for those staying onsite.

Universal's Express Pass comes in two different ways: Unlimited (which means you can go through the Express Pass line again and again) and just the regular Express Pass (which means you can go through the Express Pass line only once) and is not included for any person just by virtue of having a ticket. The Unlimited Express Pass is included for those staying at Premier resorts and only one of their Preferred resorts.

If you wanted to compare the different ways Universal and Disney handle the perk you would have to say that ONLY Disney Deluxe resorts get FPs and some Moderates get FPs (accounting for what Universal refers to as Preferred and that only 1 Preferred resort currently qualifies for Express Pass Unlimited being included at no additional cost). Values, the rest of the Moderates, the campsites, DVC and offsite would not get FPs period unless they paid for them.

Universal and Disney set up their versions of 'get ahead of the line' differently. They function differently too.

I would be much happier at a deluxe resort at the end of the day. I want the nicer bed, the balcony, the distance to a park......but why should i be treated less visitor because i am staying at a value resort for my upcoming trip? take out the resort aspect, I am still probably going to spend the same amount of money as i would in a deluxe resort. I am glad you have that kind of money to throw around but not everyone does or wants to but they should still be treated the same. My husband serves this country and he told me to take the kids to disney while he is gone for the next few months. Well if I want to go a few times I can get more trips in staying at a value resort vs staying at a deluxe resort.

Before we get too far down this thread, tell your DH that we thank him for his service. And if anyone deserves an extra FP+, it would be the families of those currently active in the service.

Now back to the thread where the initial post had me breaking out the old popcorn popper again...
