For those that are just checking into the Dis today, good news! Its been posted on the transportation forum, but thought you'd like it here too. They came to a tentative agreement early this morning. Yay! We're flying in June!

OMG...my coworker is going to pee her pants!
(she's flying them in may)

thank you thank you thank you!

They still have to vote on it but if the union leadership is satisfied I am feeling very optimistic. We have our Hawaii award seats on Delta for this summer so I have no doubt that if Delta went belly up, we would not be flying. Those tickets in addition to our FLL tickets for next January are feeling a bit "more secure" to me this morning! :cloud9:

Which, at the root of it, is the more important, and better news. I know it would have been a HUGE drag for people with flights booked, but that could have been solved (fly standby on another airline, drive, take the train, etc) But for the 10s of thousands (if not more) people who's jobs would have been affected, this is GREAT news. All the folks like Miss Jasmine, and Mr Miss Jasmine, the Flight attendants, the gate agents, baggage handlers, caterers and cleaners, the trickle down would have been HUGE.

I have a flight booked with Delta in February, so I'm feeling good too.

It would have absolutely been devastating to those who work for Delta, no doubt. If you have award seats however, they would have been gone forever. Its good news to those of us who have been loyal to Delta over the years. Loyalty keeps an airline flying as well. There were and are many potential customers that steer clear of Delta because of the bankruptcy, the concerns about a strike, etc. There is nothing that will hurt an airline quicker than fleaing customers.

Well neither of us work for Delta, but the organization we work for would have been gravely affected. My boss confided some things in me that I wish he wouldn't have about what might happen if this didn't get resolved. Anway, there are a lot of other businesses and organizations out there that would have been affected by a Delta pilot strike.

Yes, I would have missed my Skymiles as well. ;)

Thanks for the post! :cool1:

We have tickets to go out and visit my family at the end of July. Only two airlines fly into my hometown and Delta had the best fares by a mile. I was a little concerned with the talk of striking, but figured that the pilots would have to be pretty crazy to strike so long that they didn't have any jobs to go back to.

BTW, I paid $1300 to months ago for four tix cross country (BDL - SLC direct, then onto PSC and the return flights). When I checked the other day, Delta was quoting approximately 4X that price for the same flights now! :scared1:
