Assuming they go to court on April 15 and it doesnt go in favor of the pilots, do they immediately strike or do they first set a strike date? How does this work?
Delta Air Lines and its pilots union are continuing to negotiate in Washington this week, after briefing a three-person arbitration panel overseeing their case. If no deal is reached by April 15, the panel is supposed to rule on whether the company can reject the existing contract and impose its own terms.
If that happens, the union has said it would strike but has not said how or when such a strike would take place.
I have been reading there is no cooling off period if the airline's contract is thrown out because then they have no contract so they are not breaking the law. If there is a cooling off period, that would be great for me as I am traveling in 12 more days.

It actually is the case that there will be no cooling off period. My DH is a manager in a union and is very versed on union laws and regulations. Unfortuneatly for us, the cooling off period does not need to happen - that's not to say it won't happen, just that they are not legally bound to do it.
