Is anyone worried about a Delta shut down? I hear that if and when the pilots strike on April 18th...they might have to shut down Delta...what will that mean for people having tickets to WDW?? Will they be able to get onto another airline easily? What is everyone doing about this...just wondering!

Also, if the tickets were bought thru Disney...with a package...wouldn't it be Disneys responsibility to find another airline to replace the Delta one they book for you?

Just wondering about everyones thoughts on the subject!

We cancelled our April flight and we have a flight credit . . .we are headed to WDW in November, and I'm hoping I can still apply my flight credit for that vacation. I'm hoping that Delta continues operations, otherwise we will be out our flight credit and have to fly another airline . . .

Yes, I'm very worried.... I was apparently living under a rock for the past 8 months-we never fly anywhere unless it's Disney, so I just plugged in the dates through expedia.com and Delta came up w/ the best rate for non-stop service at the dates/times we wanted... I went right to the delta.com website and booked it a month ago and THEN I heard about all the news about a potential strike/shutdown..... so yes, I'm nervous. I called Visa to ask what would happen if they went under-would I lose my $$-the rep assured me that they would get me my $$ back if they do indeed go under-but that's only because I did use a credit card. He said that it happened one other time with another airline, and they did refund all of their customer's $$ who had tix purchased on the airline that went under. Here's a link for what to do if it does go under:

Anything can happen, but I really don't think they will strike on April 18th. I live in the Atlanta area, and know many people with Delta. It is a very serious situation, but not one that can't be resolved.

I have a flight to Disneyland on Delta in June, so I understand your worry. I would just be really suprised if they don't work something out this week.

My sister called about her miles and they said they will still be flying even if they strilke... so I guess maybe someone else will be hired? WHo knows... call and talk to customer service and see what they say to you...

Head over to the Transportation Board...there's a ton of discussion about Delta over there. I think that you will find that most of us think (or could be wishful thinking) that there will be no strike. That it will come down to an 11th hour thing, but Delta will still be in the air.
I am flying Delta on May 15 and then home again on the 21st. I am not changing anything for awhile...just sitting tight. If there were to be a strike, and Delta was forced to shut down, then I wouldn't be going to WDW in May and then would have to change my air plans in Oct over to JB!!

We have all bases covered. We changed out flight to leave April 15th instead of April 17. We reserved a car to drive home to New York in case of a strike.
