I bought dec. tickets on delta for $368 pp. Two days later they cut the price in half. Of course I could not get a refund and had to get the difference in vouchers minus the change fee. At the time I was sick to my stomach at how much money I had "wasted", but the tickets now cost $815 pp so I guess it could always be worse.

Delta/Song, and most airlines are like that. with song we usually watch the prices for a little bit, but don't wait too long. In may we brought our sept30-oct9th tickets, for both wife and I, it came to $330, NOW, it is over $1100.
we are thinking about going back in feb, current feb prices are $350.80 total for 2. may get those when we come back from this next trip.

usually the closer the trip gets after a certain point, the higher the prices go. (our planes our sold out according to the website).

Direct flights from DTW to MCO/TPA for February weekends (saturday to saturday) are over $500 on NW, over $400 on Spirit, and close to $300 on AirTran (with an afternoon departure and an early morning return). Around this time last year, Spirit was *under* $200.

I bit the bullet in August and paid $280 for flights at times I really wanted for 2/25-3/4, and I could have gotten that down to $225 if I was willing to accept times that weren't quite as good. At the time, I wasn't sure this was a good price. So far, I'm glad I didn't wait, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?

If they change your flight and/or flight times you can make it work in your favor by checking other flights. If see one that much cheaper you can ask for a full refund on the original flight tickets.
good luck
