WE are flying on Delta next week. Are they on time, Or are they always late leaving-Arriving?? WE only have a 50 min window going both ways to the connecting flight. Also we have to fly thru Cincinnati to Orlando.. First time on Delta for us... THANKS....

According to the Department of Transportation's most recent Air Consumer Travel report, which can be found here , for the 12 month period ending February 2005, Delta had 76.4% of on-time arrivals, which ranked them 14th out of 19. But a little better news, in Cincinnati, Delta had 4,074 flight arrivals in February, and 85.4% were on time.

Despite any idustry wide averages, the question of more importance is will your flight be on time. That's a difficult one to answer, but to ease your mind somewhat, CVG is a very nice place to change planes. You wouldn't have any difficulty with half that amount of time to connect.

Very true, you are only concerned about your flight, but if you know that Delta has 85% of their flights on time in Cincinnati, you know that you have a fairly good chance of being on time and can ease some of your fears. (Unless, of course, you're a pessimist and only focus on the 15% late.)

One thing to try is go to Delta's website and put in the flight number in the flight information section at the bottom of the page and click on "yesterday" or "today"... that will show you what time the flight was scheduled to arrive and actually arrived. This only works if the flight number is the same now as it will be when you travel, a lot of times the flight number or time can change periodically as schedules are adjusted.

When you book on American's website it gives the flight's historical ontime percentage. I haven't found that feature on Delta's website, and it sure would be nice when trying to plan connections.

You must also keep in mind any weather changes. Particularly in the Orlando area, when we get all those lightning storms and thunders, the flights are basically put on hold until everything passes over. Right now, this is a daily occurrence.

That is why if I have to book a connecting flight, I always do one that is about 2 hrs. and not so close.

As posted, it really depends on your flight into and out of CVG. Cincy is a nice airport, and we prefer to use it as a hub rather than atlanta. Connections are pretty easy since the buses from C to B run pretty regularly, and if your traveling on one commuter jet onto another one (one sardine can to the next) then you won't usually have to leave concourse C since that is where the small planes call home.
