We're flying Delta at the beginning of April and I just saw an article that says the pilots might strike if things aren't settled between them and the airline by March 1st? :scared: Should I be concerned???!!!!! Ugh!

Thank you, erikthewise, that is very reassuring. :scared1:

When was the article dated?? I know there were concerns before the holidays, but to the best of my knowledge, the 2 sides settled, and so far Delta is operating business as usual.

They're scaling back for sure, but I don't think there are any new strike concerns, unless I've been under a rock for a while.

We're flying them on Tuesday ( )and I'm pretty sure we'll be fine, and I think you should be fine in April as well

The article was from today.

Yea....it's very recent. Pooh.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Actually if the strike begins a full month before your flight, it will probably result in less disruption that if it happened immediately before. Delta will have a chance to resolve the strike or make arrangements. And if not you will have a chance to find another flight. Odds are pretty good you'll come out of this just fine.

Someone told me they are voting by March 1st. I did not hear it myself, not sre how accurate the date is.

I also have a flight in April.

We're flying Delta on 2-16 returning on 2-25-06 we should be OK right? I have a lot of money invested in this trip. Please tell me I'll be OK.
Thanks,
Shelby

I believe by federal law there is a 30 day "cooling off period" after a strike vote before the strike can actually take place. So you will be fine. But unfortunately, kjs may have a problem.

Dang you fly a lot for a teacher! You must have your masters degree! :rotfl2:

I am flying Delta to Texas in May, I hope there are no issues. I guess my only recourse is that these are NWA frequent flyer miles, so maybe they would rebook us on Delta...

Duds

Where did you find this article?? I'm flying Delta Apr 7th & 17th, so naturally I'm slightly concerned.

I just read the article (Yahoo) we should know more around March 1st.

The article came from delta.com and it was also on Yahoo news. DH is flying April 1-3 and DH, me and my bros are flying April 8-11.

Praying for a safe and scheduled flight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just found this interesting article when looking for more info on what to do if there is a strike: Travel Sense

Among other things it states:
› An airline affected by a strike is not required to re-accommodate you on other airlines. Strikes are not covered in most airlines’ Contract of Carriage, and most airlines will do nothing more than provide you with a refund, but only after a strike is imminent (within a day or two of being called).
:sad2:

Delta's pilots, just like NW's, are not totally stupid. They have to know if they strike there won't be a job to come back to... I think that just like NW's pilots they won't strike.... Union Leadership however lives in some Fantasy World where the airlines are really making money so they come up with these great ideas....

Yes, the pilots are taking a hit, but a job is better then no job and the majority of them know this.

I just booked Delta for my May trip. I'm sure all will be well.

:sunny: I love Disboard positivity even in the face of doom! :sunny:

:grouphug: Keep the positivity coming with this post, I'm feeling better with all of your reassurance even if the outcome at this point is unknown.
