You asked if I would be upset and the answer is no. You are together. 2 kids and an adult and an adult and 1 kid. I don't see where the problem is. We have been split up a lot more than that.
You should be very happy they were able to get you that together. you may have ended up with 2 together and then single seats all over the place.
Just make sure each kid has their own snacks and things to occupy themselves in their own back pack so if there is another change there will be no problem with them sitting apart.
And it isn't just Delta they all do it. I wouldn't fuss at the airport I'd just take the seats the way they are and have a good flight rather than getting all worked up and starting the vacation stressed.

Booking way in advance it is very likely your seat assignments will not remain the same, as airlines condense flights down. Remember that when you fly again in the future, you need to keep an eye on your flights. Changes can happen. Babysit your flights.
JetBlue does! Right on the seat selection page is a disclaimer letting you know "your seat selection is not guaranteed". I've never had a problem - but I know my seat may get changed!!!
Part of the reason that I booked early and picked seats closer to the front of the plane is so that I don't see so many people. Now I'll definitely be seeing more people and will need the Ativan.
