Well....I did the Diamond Lane check-in with just 1 request---Lakes or Cascades and got neither and also had done the fax to room controller person as Maria, Godess of Vistana, had suggested. Room was ready when we arrived at 1pm. They wanted to put us in Falls and my DH got them to move us to Fountain. 2 bed, 2 bath with w/d. We were near the pool area but it wasn't noisy and had a ground room. Kids did the dye shirts and a few other activities....they had a blast. The pool at Fountains was wonderful. The room was not as new as Lakes but was more than adequate and we would certainly go back. We really liked the location of the room.
Check-in time was a bit shorter than it would have been if we weren't Diamond Lane people but the regular line wasn't that long DH said. So did it help....maybe? Didn't get the room request I wanted but I guess it doesn't hurt.

Weather was good...mid 70's ...with just splashes of rain here and there....great heated pool!!!!!

We did get 3 phone sales calls. One was at 9:30pm!!!!!!!!! We stopped answering the phone after that.

Thanks for all your help and info. It was a great trip considering it was a last minute one planed 3 weeks ago. We were supposed to be in Deerfield Beach, FL but canceled due to Hurrican Wilma and problems still going on there.

Have a great day everyone!

glad you enjoyed your trip.

I got Springs and loved the location - it was great for getting in and out of this resort.

I am glad that you had a good time. we will be staying at the Vistana in March. Did you spend much time at the resort? We want to relax but it is hard for us when there is so much to do at the parks.

Tara,

Last Dec. we never managed to do anything at the resorts. This time we took advantage of the fact that we've done Disney a few times and didn't need to do all the parks and do everything in the park. We hit the parks by opening (best tip I can give you because we were able to do our favorites and need to see) and by 1ish....we were off to the room to get bathing suits on. The pool water was warm. I'd read by the pool while the kids swam. Sometimes it was a bit chilly and I had a sweatsuit on top of the bathing suit.

The kids had a blast doing the tie-dye tshirts at the Lakes Activity Center ($10 each...do it early in the trip since it takes 2 days for the shirts to dry) and also did some sort of spin art/bead activity at the main activity center (free). This trip we were able to do these fun things and the kids loved it (9 and 6...girls.

For us, we don't do the parks from morning to night. We don't enjoy that. If you do, maybe do one park day, one resort/rest day and then back to the parks.

I would go back to the Vistana in a minute. For the location, price and extras, it was worth it. For what I paid 2 years ago for Staybridge down the street, I'd rather apply it to this resort.

Have Fun!

Del :)

Del,
Happy to hear you got the Fountains over the Falls. Sorry you didn't get your requests though. Too bad about those persistant phone calls. Go figure, they can't give you your request and then bug you on top of it with phone call after phone call ?! As for the Diamond Lane, I've been there when the regular line had close to 20 people in it and was relieved to be able to check-in at the DL. But you're right, other times the regular line is not bad at all. Glad you got into your room early ----that's always a plus !

I agree, not bad at all for 3 weeks planning ! I'm glad you had a nice time and thanks for the report back :flower:

Hey Maria....Godess of Vistana,

Would Falls have been not as "nice" as Fountains, Lakes and Cascades? Are you able to tell me the difference in case next trip we are there. That way we are prepared. Thanks.

The Falls are def older and the decor may appear a little dated, though Vistana is pretty good with maintenance and upkeep. The second bedroom only has 2 twin size beds in it----bit give away. The Falls is located very near Zimmies restaurant and the General Store---so the location is good. I would say the Falls is not quite as nice as the newer ones you mentioned, but the buildings looked pretty well maintained when I walked around there this past Aug. Here's a few pics I snapped of the outside :

The Lakes and Cascades are 4 and 5 stories high with elevator access. The Fountains are 3 stories high (no elevators) and the Falls are 2 story.
Hope this helps !

Thanks for the report. We stay at the Vistana in 2.5 weeks - counting the days! We have registered for Diamond Lane but did not request an area. We don't plan to do the parks this trip - just take it easy and enjoy the resort and do some things around Orlando that we don't do if we have park tickets.

Thanks to everyone for the great information and suggestions.

Suzanne

Thanks for the info Maria....Godess of Vistana. It's good to know that we would have been fine in the Falls section if that's what had happened. Have a warm day in Lansdale!
