Dell Computer-Financing "gimmic"?

We bought our first Dell a month ago and paid cash for it.

This week we are trying to buy another one(for the kids) I tried to get either "special" financing they are advertising...either 90 days or until Jan 2004 with no financing charge. We were denied! Of course we DID qualify for their very high interest rate.

Has anyone ever gotten this no interest financing-or is it a "gimmic"?

No, it's not a gimmick, I got it for my laptop...three months free financing; pay it in full before the final balance is due and no interest charges. I will pay it in full.

I have purchased from Dell before and FINANCED that one, maybe that made a difference...a credit history with the company.

No gimmick I am aware of. Just bought DD a new dell for school...we paid cash. Have a Dell P3 at home and my older Dell laptop, also a Dell P4 on my desk at work. I know many who have gone with the financing. Those programs and packages seem to change almost weekly. It could be a establishing credit history thing, not sure. IMHO Dells are the best product available, easiest to work on and have the best support system out there...thus we stick with them. Hope this works out for you.

Michelle....that's what DH thinks,that you had to have a finance history with them. I thought having JUST bought one computer was good enough(and our great credit history and income )

I had no finance history with them when I bought my Dell. It went through with no problem. They should be able to tell you why they turned it down!
