Delicious Bites, Halloween Frights & Character Delights. NEW PTR HAS BEGUN!

LL, secretly I was very worried about you traveling after your surgery. I think you made the right decision for all the reasons you posted. :goodvibes:

I'll following along for your January PTR for sure!

Aww, LL, I COMPLETELY understand your reasons although I will really miss you!!! But will look forward to your January PTR when the time is right!!

In the meantime, take care of YOU and Marc, keep us posted on things and know I'll be thinking of you and praying for you at this very exciting new start on life!! And I got chills just thinking of you and Marc starting your own family!!!:cloud9:

Be well!!!!

You know what? It's so easy to make the fun choice, and so hard to make the responsible one. I face it all the time, and I commend you for knowing yourself, knowing your body, and knowing what you're comfortable with.

If you're worried about not enjoying yourself for whatever reason, then you shouldn't go.

And it's a big ole downer, because I was definitely looking forward to meeting you.

Although...Mom and I are going in January :scratchin

;);)

I'm very happy for you, hon. I want you to be well, and think of this not as cancelling, just postponing! :goodvibes

Awwwww....I'm sorry you have to miss Disney with all of us but your health comes first and I think, no, I know, you made the right decision. You never know how good or bad you body will feel when it goes thru something major and Disney one month later might have been tough. And don't forget that we live pretty close so we may just have to do our DIS-meet in New England, just not Florida.

I'm sorry you had to cancel you're trip but it's for something great, you're surgery. I wish you good luck with your surgery and hope you have a quick and safe recovery. Good luck with everything and wish Mark good luck with his upcoming surgery as well. Good luck to both of you on starting your own family. I hope to here more about how it all goes soon!

LL, glad they were able to help you there! The Podcast had someone write in with that very question, and one of the hosts of the show mentioned that with the Guest Assistance Card they would allow for an adult to pay a child's buffet cost. I think they also mentioned how you probably didn't even need the GAC, but they would just let you do it - the GAC would just make it more legit, like you weren't trying to con the system or something.
GAC (Guest Assistance Cards) are officially not used for anything other than attractions in the theme parks. I have never heard of anyone using a GAC to allow an adult to pay the child price or not pay for a child who did not eat (like a child who is tube fed). There really would be nothing on the GAC that would clue the CMs in restaurants in to the person not eating (or eating very little). I am not saying no one has ever done it, just that in 10 years of the disABILITIES Board, no one has posted about it and some people have posted that they tried, but were not successful.
What I have heard of people doing is having a card from their doctor that states their problem - for example, a child with a G tube who does not eat by mouth, or an adult after stomach stapling who eats small portions.
The CM servers at buffets do have some ability to lower charges if they see that someone had not/is not able to eat, even without a card.
For the buffets with entertainment, such as character meals, they may charge an entertainment fee (less than the child price) for someone who does not eat.
Did you find out about how to get a GAC?
You can find out information about GACs in post #6 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread - I have a link in my signature to that thread.

Good decision, although hard I am sure. You are doing things for your future, Mark's and your future family. Disney will be there!

LL, I think you made the right decision!! Being healthy should be everyone's first concern. And there is no need in stressing about a trip if you are about to undergo very important suergery! :goodvibes

I never got around to write that I wish you all the best for your surgery. It is wonderful that you have already been doing so good that you can have it earlier than planned! I hope it will make your life much better!

And if you are planning a solo trip in January, do you already have dates? We will be there from 1/27 to 2/5. :wave2:

LL its so hard to make the right choice isn't it? :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Im thinking about you and pray your surgery goes well! Start the January PTR. It will make you (and all of us!) feel better!

:)

I know it was a difficult decision but I'm glad you made it. You come first, of course, and it would be heart-breaking to see Disney become a stressor or to have a non-magical trip. Good luck with your surgery prep and of course the surgery itself. Hopefully you will be enjoying the WDW magic with your DH very soon! :goodvibes

PS: Wow! I see that you already have a new ticker so perhaps you've already booked another trip!

You made a good decision. You will definitely need some time after your surgery for recooperation, and Disney's not going to be moving away or anything. You'll enjoy yourself so much more when your fully recovered.

And on the plus side by January the rainy season should definitely be over with, September is still right in the middle of hurricane season down there.

LL-

I will be happily looking forward to your PTR for your January trip...

Although many others have already said it...You are absolutely making the right decision for you and Marc...YOur health is Priority #!-It would be really a lot of pressure for you to be getting ready for your surgery, having it and recovering while trying to get things set for a trip...

In the mean time-thank you so much for the pleasure you've given by writin such great pretrippie and trippies and I can't wait to look for the new one when your ready to start it...:goodvibes

LL, you're a smart girl! You listened to your inner voice telling you that this is not the right time for a trip. It's the right time to focus on your recovery and new lifestyle. By January you'll have had time to save and you'll really know what your body can handle. I'm so excited for your surgery! I know you and Marc will make absolutely fantastic parents.:goodvibes

In an unrelated note, I love your new siggie pictures!!

I just didn't want to risk feeling poorly in Disney. I much rather wait and know I will feel better. :thumbsup2

BAH! So close! Right now my dates are Jan. 14 - 19. Sigh. It's easier with my time off since I get Martin Luther King Jr. Day off on the 18th.

LL its so hard to make the right choice isn't it? :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I did book the trip last night to make myself feel better. I'm quite proud of the ticker I made myself!

That is a HUGE plus. I've heard the weather is pretty decent that time of year too so that makes me happy!

Thank you. It's a little overwhelming to think I'm going to have to replace two wardrobes this year, holy expensive! But for a good reason. Some of my clothes are already getting baggy!! Eeee!!

I'm so glad that you are making good decisions for your family. I will miss your PTR and can't wait for the new one! My birthday is in January and I have an AP...just saying ;)
Don't you fly Southwest too? We could be flight buddies!! :lmao:

It was the right thing for me. I'm really looking forward to January now.

Ditto to what everyone said! You are doing the right decision. Good job! :thumbsup2

Let me know when you post your January PTR as I'm not on that board much.

I will continue to pray for your safe outcome with the surgery. Maybe I can come down in January too! :goodvibes
