do people delete pictures from their digital cameras after they download the pictures onto their computer???? i am new to this and didnt know what to do....

As long as you are sure they are ON your hard drive, I'd delete them. I am totally anal about this subject and regularly put all my pics (and documents, too!) on a CD, I make TWO copies as a matter of fact. One stays in the house, one goes to work and stays there.

yep.
need to make room for more pictures!
I usually select the "delete images from camera after downloading" option during the download procedure.

to "back up" my pictures - I upload them to snapfish.com. yes I have to buy something once a year...but no big deal for me - I make calendars every year of our Dog for DH and I for christmas. :)

I am kinda' freaky about the download, too. I made folders in my program and once I download the pics, I then put them in the topic folder. But, sometimes I will download them again, just to make sure I have a copy... :confused3

Then, I delete all the pics on the hard drive or memory card and I reformat it each time before I start taking pics again.

Yes we delete them off the camera after they are downloaded. Please make sure that you save your pictures on a CD or somewhere besides your hard drive. We had not and had a virus on our computer. Whatever they had to do to fix it erased all our pictures. I was so upset at DH because he didn't save them on a CD or print them out like I asked him too.

Thanks for all the fast replies. I just deleted all my 200 WDW pics and they are on my hard drive. I will put them on a DVD rom. Thanks !

Disney has a way of creating those picture opportunities! 200 pictures!!

The last time we went, my digital card went clabooy and I still have them sitting at my desk unable to get the pics off them. I think I will buy one of those recovery programs to see if I can get the pics off of them. The program costs about the same as 1 trip to the computer store to have someone take them off for me....and I imagine that will happen again in the future so I might as well have the program. I will NEVER buy SanDisk again!!
