Ariel,

Well as we say down in the South, "bless your heart".

You WOULD just happen to get sick on the days you're at WDW. I hate that happened to you. But it's good you were on the road to recovery later in your trip.

You mentioned that 1508 was a little far from the Comfort Station for you. What did you think of the Fort overall (truthfully)? Did you make it over to the pool or the campfire/singalong with Chip & Dale? Did you roast any marshmellows?

Thanks for the TR. :worship:

Bama ED

PS - some of you DWs do end up marrying former Eagle Scouts (!) (although once an Eagle always an Eagle) who love camping all the rest of our lives - especially at the Fort....

i am headed to the Fort in Aug and worked in daycare for 25 plus years. you sre not the first parent that i have heard of getting hand, foot and mouth before their child. watch your son,i think son, to come down about now from you getting on trip as you could have been infectous just before you left.

Loved reading your TR. Sad that you got sick on Vacation. But glad it worked out well. Last June I broke my ankle just before Vacation. No way I was staying home. DH pushed me around for 5 weeks all over the south in a wheel chair. Even at Dollywood.

We loved the fort. Wouldn't hesitate doing it again. Would bring our bikes next time. I mentioned the comfort station was far cause DH wasn't feeling to good a couple nights (stomach upset) and said it was a far walk then especially when he forgot his room key. :goodvibes I didn't partake in the pool but DH did and the hot tub and he loved it. We were back in our tent and getting ready for bed when the campfire was going on. Was still not feeling well and we are used to going to bed early. DH is already looking into planning our next trip. DH does want to request the 1500 loop again next time since it is nicely located within walking distance to the pool and store :goodvibes

Some things I noticed was that quite a few campsites against the rules were burning little Bon fires in their grills and no CMs said anything. Also we had a lot of noisy neighbors same people with the fires. DH said this was the noisiest campground he has ever been to. :confused3 We didn't let that ruin our trip just chalked it up to being on vacation.

You said 1508 was 4 spots from the comfort station but that it was a little far to walk. Our upcoming trip to the Fort will be our first and I'm wordering just how far?

I only ask because we requested to be away from the lights and congestion of the CS, but when I sleep in a tent I always wake up in the morning needing to pee badly. :rolleyes1

I am terrible at judging distance so I found two videos on youtube showing 1500 loop.

Looks like they are on a golf cart for this video.
The comfort station is at 20sec in and our site is at 45sec.

This one they are in a golf cart too.
The comfort station is at 18sec and our site is at 40sec.
The family with the yellow shirts had the same site as us.

Now the golf carts are going faster then you normally walk but if your motivated I'm sure you can get there pretty quick. DH did. :goodvibes Just know the ladies room is the farthest door at the comfort station which makes it feel even farther.

The Comfort station was very empty when we were there of course alot of the sites were empty. Did noticed alot of ladies showed up around 8:00am to get ready so if you get there no later then 7:00-7:30am you can get showered and fully ready for the day without having to wait for the shower or space at the mirror or sink. I always had the bathroom to myself every morning until that hour came around. At the end of our trip there was one family that just arrived that joined me at that early hour to get ready but I still made it in before they did to get ready. So of course the earlier you get ready the better. We found that when we woke in the morning it worked out best we just grab our shower stuff and clothes and went to the comfort station to get ready for the day since we needed to make that walk to use the bathroom anyways.

Oh my! Those videos scared me and I’m glad I watched without DH because they would scare him even more. The sites are so close together with no privacy. That is not our idea of camping. Though we know that Disney is a different kind of experience. But, that’s why we are only camping for two days before we meet up with family in a hotel. We wanted to see if we would like it before we spent a whole week. But thank you! It doesn’t look like any sites are too far from the comfort station for what we are used to!

I never have been camping anywhere else so I have nothing to compare it to. DH did say it was the noisiest campground he has ever been to.
