Deed name change

We got married at the Poly (home : ) ) this month. I am making my way through the name change process. I have saved all my Disney stuff for last.

My Disney Experience - it appears I can simply update my name and address but will this change also update my AP?

DVC - I will be contacting member services to initiate the deed change. I currently have 2 active reservations for November 2018 under my OLD name. Will those reservations be updated with my new name? Is this after or before the deed update? I also plan to make a January 2019 reservation once my 11 month window opens up.

Any suggestions you can offer? I'm hesitant to start because I have so much active at the moment.

Changing your deed only changes your deed. I would change the deed and change everything else next year.

I don't think it's worth paying to change the deed just for a last name change. But if you're adding your spouse, then you can do it at the same time. I've seen a few times where DVC changed the name without a deed change so I'd at least check if that's possible.

I'm one of those few people! Disney changed my name on the membership however my deed still remains in my maiden name. Super easy and gave me no hassle when I emailed them the request along with a scan of my marriage license.

MS updated my online Disney presence, my DVC member profile and current reservations. I do have a loan on my ownership. Won't the name inconsistencies cause a problem when filing my taxes? If not then I won't bother. I was under the impression that any reservations had to match the owner name as recorded.

I can make a reservation for anybody. There’s no expectation that reservations match the owners name.

My accountant said no, it's pretty common for people to wait months if not years to fully change all their documents after a name change. When I put the name change in with DVC I asked about the deed and they said I can leave it, the only time I would absolutely need to have the name changed over is if we decided to sell our contract.

Well then that settles it. I'm not going to mess with it unless I add my spouse or sell (the horror). Thank you!
