I am waiting to close on our first DVC purchase. On the contract, I only listed my name as owner. My husband doesn't care about the planning aspect and I will always be the only one to make reservations, hold the card, receive the mail and such. However, does he need to be on the deed in order to qualify for AP discounts and other on-site discounts? What are the drawbacks to having only my name on the deed?

Immediate family members are eligible for DVC Member pricing on APs. The member must be present and show their DVC Member Card and a Photo ID. All adults must also show a Photo ID showing the same address as the member.

For shopping/dining/etc. discounts, the member would need to show their DVC Member Card and Photo ID to receive the discount. Most locations (retail mainly) will require that the person receiving the discount be the one to pay.

I would contract the closing company ASAP and see if you can add him to the deed.

Only the owner gets the DVC perks if any but you can probably get him a discounted AP if the perk continues.

A big reason to put him on the deed is to avoid the legal issues should something happen to you.

Okay, thank you!! I will add him as while I do everything outside of the parks, we do tend to split up with our older and younger kids in the parks... would be nice to both receive discounts.

I agree, unless there's some other pressing reason not to. If the only issue is his disinterest, he should be on the deed, IMO.
