Resort Thread Disney's POP CENTURY Resort

That’s a side effect of Disney’s All Star resorts… this is a popular area for cheerleaders and sports events. This is the cheapest resort for those groups. Thus, we have a very young clientele in All Star resorts that can cause a lot of ruckus. You definitely want to avoid this resort in the springtime, as it is peak timing for many championships.
This thread is the Pop Century thread. There can be groups that stay at Pop but not as frequently as stay at the All Stsr resorts.

Wanted to clarify since people come to this thread looking for information specific to Pop Century.

Does this resort have access to a microwave? I know they aren't in the rooms but is there access on the resort to heat food up?

View attachment 990635You can see where the check in desks are covered on the right and half of the shadow boxes are covered on the left.
The Shadow Boxes being "walled off" like that is somewhat concerning.

Hopefully they are just painting the wall around the boxes, but we all know Disney LOVES change and those boxes have been there 22 years.

Pop Century could fall in line with the All-Star Resorts and do a complete change to the Lobby wall.

Is it true that if you book a standard room at Pop, your rooms can only be in the 80's or 90's sections? I called to ask for two room requests, connecting rooms for my family's two reservations and the 50's section. The cast member said he would add a note about the first, but that the 50's, 60's, and 70's sections are only preferred rooms because of proximity to the skyliner. Does anyone know if this is a new policy?

Unless something changed in the last few weeks and no one has mentioned it on FB or message boards, that's not accurate. There is a map on post #2 of this thread that shows where all the different room types are located. Every section has standard rooms. Two of our sons had standard rooms in the 60's last June and a friend had a standard room in the 50's a few months ago. Sadly, it's not unusual to get inaccurate information from the phone operators/CMs.

Just like bluezy said, they gave you the wrong information. I do not know how many times when I called that I knew more than the CM on the phone. LOL

On our last day we have a late flight out. We are going to a park but will end the day at a resort having dinner (probably not Pop though). Not sure which one it will be but can we order an uber to bring us back to the airport? I’m not sure where we would meet them at?

I only book standard rooms and am almost always in the 50's. The map on page 1 is accurate (unless Disney changed something in the last week.) Touring Plans also has good maps of all the resorts and can show you were room types are located.

Sorry, a little unclear of your question. Are you asking where to meet your Uber at Pop or another resort? At Pop I believe you meet at the front near luggage services and the overhang covering the drop off/pick up area.

Hi. Really just making sure that any Disney resort we are at that Uber could come in to get us. I’m assuming most resorts you meet somewhere in front.

Thx for responding 😊

Yes, all resorts have a location for Uber pick-up. You will then go back to Pop for luggage before heading to the airport? Likely that's faster than trying to use Disney transport to get you back to Pop to meet your Uber there.

We are flying Southwest so we don’t have to worry about coming back for luggage. That’s why we thought we would try a different resort for dinner before our flight. Haven’t been to WDW since the Magical Express days. Thx again for your response.
