And the kids always open one present each, and it's always new pajamas that they wear to bed that night.
We get the kids new pj's every year too and so far I've been able to find matching ones for a photo session in front of the tree. It's getting harder to find ones that match in both their sizes but this year I not only found matching ones for them but I found a pair for my 2 year old niece! I can't wait until the three of them are together for a photo!
One other tradition that has stood the test of time, is we each save a couple of gifts to open Christmas night. My mother can not believe that we (especially the kids when they were younger) have the willpower to wait to open everything! But, it gives us something to look forward to and makes the magic last all day. So Christmas night, we have the fire going, open the saved presents and then my husband reads the Christmas story from the book of Luke while we have hot chocolate.
I love this! I wonder if I can convince my kids to save a couple of presents for the evening!
30 minutes of cardio that I managed to squeeze in after going to Wizard of Oz rehearsal yesterday. Today DS9 joins the cast for a full run through of the show, his last rehearsal before dress rehearsal on Tuesday. The show opens in 6 days, I can't believe it! Trial makeup is already happening...tried out tin man the other day and trying out scarecrow today. Coming out awesome, can't wait!![]()
My daughter is playing The Ghost of Christmas Past in the Christmas Carol this year and I can't wait to see it. It's her first play

I could use a serious dose of holiday spirit. It would probably help if I put away my fall/Thanksgiving decorations. Good-bye to orange and earth tones and hello to red and green and lights, maybe this weekend.
I'm going to decorate this weekend too! Every year I get annoyed because my advent calendar is with our Christmas decorations and we don't get the up until about now (or later!) so we miss the first couple of days. This year we bought a lego one so I didn't have to think about it or wait for the decorations but it didn't help because it's sitting in my craft room unopened!
I got on the treadmill and my plan was to walk and do hill intervals, a nice lunch break workout. not too sweaty but not a walk in the park either.
And then a college kid gets on the treadmill beside me and I don't know what happened.
I started feeling competitive with a 20 something guy, who probably (let's be honest) barely even noticed my existence. There were a million totally rational reasons why I should have just stayed on track and completed the workout I had planned. but noooo.... I decided to see if I could "race" him on the treadmill and keep up with his speed. bottom line - I'm an idiot. Once the treadmills hit 8.5 mph I was cooked and sweaty. Good thing I gave up, he went all the way to 11 mph. If I had tried that, I probably would have flied off the treadmill.
LOL that's hilarious and totally sounds like something I would do.
