Just curious what all the differences are. I know a Lockoff is a 1BR connected to a studio, so you have 2 room#s 2 entrances and the connecting door can be locked off. Is it the same for all resorts?? We owe at AKV and were in a 1br last time and it had the locked off door to the studio.

The lockoff portion of the studio has 1 bed and 1 sofa sleeper. I think the dedicated 2br's have 2 queen beds??

What are the other differences??? I would guess the dedicated 2br does not have a kitchenette? what is is its place?

Thanks....Planning a trip with another family...we will be 4A and 5K.(2 kids are mine) So just trying to decide which would work better.

I am leaning toward lockoff, only because I think that if at any point we have had enough of each other...we can each have SOME privacy.

Of course it would be DH and I in the Master, my 2 boys 10,& 11 on the sleeper in the LR. Their DD 14 on the Sleeper chair. They can have the studio/2nd BR for themselves and their 10yr old twin boys.

I will be booking AKV at the 11month mark...and I will try for a treehouse at the 7month window with a waitlist..( I know my chances are slim). But I think all the boys (Dads included) would enjoy the treehouses..

I am not that concerned with us being on top of each other. The other family is commando park style people. Rope drop to closing, with very little down time. We used to be that way also, but since owning DVC we have learned to take it slower since we always know there is another WDW trip around the corner. So I know when we a relaxing in the room, they will be in the parks.

The biggest difference in the two is that instead of a kitchenette in the studio side and instead of another door to the outside, you gain two closets. There is a door between the two areas also, so it isn't like you can't seal each other out a bit for some down time.

I am not sure about this - but I think that sometimes the balcony configurations might be different for lockoffs vs. dedicated? Maybe someone else can confirm...

A lock off will have two internet connections and separate A/C controls.

I know at OKW the lockoff has a small balcony/patio off the studio portion but the dedicated 2 bedroom does not have anything off the second bedroom. I stayed in a dedicated at OKW, it was nice because we had a second bathroom sink outside the bathroom where the kitchenette would have been plus a large walk-in closet where the outside door would have been.

We found that at at OKW there is only one wall safe in the dedicated 2BR. It's, of course, located in the closet off the main bedroom.

Also the second bedroom of the dedicated 2BR at OKW did not have a internet connection (at least that I could find).

Thanks so much for the input......I think I will for a lockoff.

And now that I am thinking about the balcony issue....maybe the difference is a partition??? Our 1BR had 1 LONG balcony that you could access from the LR or the Master BR......there was a studio connected to us and the balcony had a partition. Maybe on a dedicated 2BR its on really really long balcony.

Two bedroom lockoffs at SSR have two separate patios/balconies. We travel with extended family and always request the lockoff. We have the main area, and they have their own studio with a connected door that both sides can "lockoff."
