Dedicated 2-bedrooms...

OK, we just (and I mean just) joined DVC. :wave2: We have a short trip planned for this year, thinking about another short trip next year, but the trip I am already concerned about is our "big family trip of 2007".

In looking at how many points we have (350/year)and how many people are going (12), I'm thinking we'd be better off with 2, 2 bedroom units instead of a grand villa. That'll give us 8 sleeping units verses 6. Plus it won't cram all my family into one area for 10 or so days :rolleyes1 . And it'll be less points :) We'll be at SSR (our home) and I know they have some 2-bedrooms with 2 queens and some with the pullout in the 2nd bedroom.

My question is (yes I'm finally to the question portion of this post) is how likely/unlikely is it that we will be able to get 2 of the 2 queen 2nd bedrooms? Is this something that can be booked or would this just be a request? Any input would be appreciated.

Odds are good if you book at 11 months out, less but still possible for less lead time. In part, it depends on what time of year. I'd suggest you consider a 2 BR and 2 studios in addition OR do OKW where you get 2 queens in the second automatically even if you get the studios. Or you could try for a GV at OKW which is also less points.

Well, actually, right now we are really looking forward to SSR for the proximity to Downtown Disney. We'll have several older teenagers/young adults that might be looking for more of a night scene. But I definately think we'll be trying OKW at some point...I've always liked the look of that resort.

I do believe dedicated 2 bedrooms are a reservation and not a request at most DVC resorts. When you make that call at the 11 month window, reserve the dedicateds and then request that they be near each other. That way you should be in the same building at least.

I know the dedicated 2 bedrooms are a reservation type at BCV and VWL, and believe it is also true at the others that have them.

:Pinkbounc It's good to hear that the "dedicated" 2BRs can be reserved. That takes a little of  out of trying to plan this.

Thanks for the help.

I believe dedicated 2-brm is standard and "lock-off" is request base. I will have a family trip (13 of us) in few days and asked the same question to MS when I booked 2 2-bdrm about 6 months ago.
