I read a thread once that said BCV had 36 dedicated studios, 20 dedicated 1BR, 78 dedicated 2BR, and 74 lockoffs.

I just emailed member services a request for a dedicated 1BR for our upcoming trip, but I got a response that there is no such thing.

paste from member service response:

As with almost all Disney Vacation Club Studio and One Bedroom Vacation homes, there are actually no
dedicated One Bedroom Units at Disney's Beach Club Villas. Every One Bedroom Unit will connect to a
Studio, therefore, I am not able to place the request on your reservation.

The only reason I made the request was because I thought that avoiding the double door of the lockoff might keep noise to a minimum, so it's not a big deal, but I'd still like to understand this better. (I am not trying to get an extra bed or a different layout - just trying to avoid the lockoff door - our 2 daughters will be 3 when we travel & we don't want to disturb our neighbors if they have a meltdown.)

Did I misunderstand the room categories (there really is no such thing as a dedicated 1BR?) or should I try member services again?

Thanks for your help!

From what I have read and seen there are Dedicated 1 BR at BCV. I would call MS and speak with a MS rep in person.

Also, even if you don't get the dedicated, the lockoff door is in the entryway of the unit, not in the living room or any other area you will be spending a lot of time in. So you probably wouldn't irritate neighbors anyway.

From what I know there are 20 dedicated 1 bedroom units at BCV. From the floor plans.....

On each floor there are two next to each other overlooking the pool in the center of the building (x36 and x38). That's half of them right there!

There is also one next to the pool elevator with a pool view on floors 1-4 (x66). Ok that's up to 14.

On the 2-4th floors there is a one bdrm next to the entry to BCV. Overlooking ariel?? (x09) Now we are up to 17.

On the 1st and 2nd floor there is a pool view 1 bdrm next to the breezeway (I think that is the name of the common room!). (x10)

The final unit is first floor road/epcot view just past the hallway(153). There all 20!!!

We stayed in one on the fourth floor. Smoking Optional room, but not at all smokey. About midway down the main corridor. Pool view.

We just checked out 6 days ago and can confirm that room #110 is a dedicated one-bedroom. I don't know if it will solve your noise issues, not because the noise you make will disturb anyone, but because there was a bit of noise from the hallway/breezeway and A LOT of noise from the pool on one of our 5 nights there. Until that night we had been amazed at the lack of noise, and had commented on the impressive sound-proofing.

There are definatly 1 bedroom dedicateds at BCV, but what I am assuming is there is not a 1 bedroom dedicated category at BCV for MS to reserve. I would just reserve a 1 bedroom and ask MS to note that you want a dedicated in your preferences.

Terry S, I think you are correct.....I have only heard of being able to book 2BR w 2 Queens or 1 Queen and the sofa - nothing on 1BR specifically

thanks

We had a 1 bedroom dedicated when we were at the BCV in April. The room number was 538 ( I think) over looking the pool. So just let MS know that you know what room is what. ::yes::

When I made my second BWV reservation in 2001, I put in a request for a dedicated 1 bedroom. The cm said my reservation was already setup as dedicated, although it never said it on my confirmation. He said they book the dedicateds first (leaving the lockoffs to go either way). All 5 times I have stayed at BWV I had a dedicated 1 bedroom, 4 of the reservations were right at 11 months, one at 7 months.

It seems they would have to mark the reservations as either dedicated or lockoff, at least internally. Otherwise they would have no idea what inventory was left. They would have to know how many lockoffs were available to split up or keep together as 2 bedrooms and how many dedicated 1 bedrooms & studios that could not be combined. They may not want to tell you which category in case they need to switch reservations around.

Thank you to everyone who helped me out with such detailed information! Wow - what a great resource!

I didn't realize (should have checked out the floorplans) that BCV lockoff doors were in the entry vs. living room like at VWL. That design seems like it will be much nicer - being 1/2 of a lockoff isn't even something I'm concerned about anymore.

But, I went ahead & called MS anyhow, and the person I spoke with knew what I was asking about immediately, noted it as a preference & everything was taken care of in an instant.

Thanks again for your help - still amazed by the information available here - thanks
