I was reading an advertisement for a diabetes drug or program, and I there was a statement that the treatment "decreased the risk of death by 25%". Does anybody else get a kick out of statements like this? The death rate is 100%. Hate to break it to you. We are all at a very high risk for dying. Maybe not today, but at some point it happens. I hate the way they word those advertisements.
I also find it somewhat amusing when we hear things like "heart disease is the number one killer of Americans. Let's find a cure for it!" (not sure that stat is accurate, but you get my drift). Now, I'm not saying we shouldn't look for new and better treatments, but something will always be the number one cause of death. If you bring down the mortality rate for heart disease for instance, then something else will take its place. Do you ever ponder things like this?
Guess I am just in a morbid mood tonight.
