Decorations questions

I have decided to decorate for our 2 bdays onboard so I can personalize for my son and daughter on their actual bdays.

Can someone help me remember...

The frame around the door is metal/magnetic?
The door opens in or out?
I am trying to see if I can make this work if I add magnets to it:


The ceiling is magnetic as well, but not walls, correct?

Can I decorate the verandah doors with a scene setter like this? If so, what is allowed for attaching it...painters tape ok?

The frame is magnetic and the doors open in.

You're supposed to only use magnets for hanging things, not tape.

Some of the walls are metal, like the exterior one for the veranda sliding door. Not all walls are metal.

I would not put up anything on the door frame that takes up ANY space of entering the door. You're just making life more difficult for your stateroom host.

I will certainly try not to impede their entry, but I am sure for 12 hours they can deal.

Only magnets. Anything else you will get a $200+ bill. As far as blocking door you could tell host you dont need room services that day?

There was a family on our cruise that had a door filled with magnets. There wasn't a spare spot. They also had a thing hanging from the ceiling (outside the door) like a timeline string with things on it for each of their many cruises. I thought it was great. They were in an inside hallway, so not in a lot of way. About 2 days in to the cruise everything was gone. No magnets at all. I don't know if something happened and the family had to leave or move or if they were told to take that one down and got upset and took everything down. I was disappointed, because I thought it was a really nice door.

Anyway, if you decide to do the door covering and are asked to remove it, just roll with it and maybe have a back up plan. It's one thing to push the decorating envelop. It's another to let it ruin your surprise if you can't do what you planned.

I can’t use magnets on the glass verandah door. I will figure it out. Thx!

That’s odd! Surely they just moved rooms.
I went decor shopping and nothing is too crazy so I think it will be cute but unobtrusive. I’m basically just copying the ship purchased bday decor but more personalized...hockey for DH and Minnie for DD.

Mmm. I hope they got an upgrade. I really hope they didn't have to leave due to a medical issue. Who knows, maybe something went missing and they put them all on the inside rather than lose another.

Anyway, just saying to have a plan B, if necessary, but if you're copying what they already offer, I can't imagine you'll have any troubles.

You’re correct, magnets won’t work on glass. But DCL clearly states that using anything but magnets will be fined. Is putting a picture on the verandah door worth $200? Ultimately it’s up to you.
