Decorating your resort room?

Went to Home Depot yesterday to get my Mickey Heads for decorating our window in Sep.

DH thought I was crazy for getting them!

I came home and had them all off the cards in about 1/2 hour.

Can't wait to put them up!

Has anyone ever used the window clings from Dollar Tree? Wondering if the colors run all over or if they last for a week? :confused3 Thanks!!!

Yes, I've used them. Not only do they last for a week, but I take them back and re-use them every trip! (just keep the paper that you peel them off of to put them back on when you check out.)

What time of year do you find these?

I have been looking @ Dollar Tree staores and can't find them anywhere!! :confused3

I haven't been lately, but I see them almost every time I go in there. They are usually over by the books/coloring books, hanging on a clip. At holidays they are usually in the front with the holiday stuff.

(I like your screen name - do you play handbells?)

I think I found mine with the Easter stuff back in March. BUT, later saw them in the aisles...can't remember where though. :(

So I'm going to try to post my first pic ever to this site. We went to WDW in May and although I'd never stopped in on this thread, I'd heard some people decorate their window. I found the window clings at Dollar Tree so I grabbed some. We drove so we put them in our car windows then transfered them to our room upon arrival. We didn't go all out or anything because I didn't know what I was doing or what I had to work with.

I've only read the last few pages of the thread, but what's the deal with the alien green Mickey heads. Why alien green? I know you get these at HD but don't know the story behind the color. Anyhoo, here's our window. Not alot but we'll do more next time for sure!!

OMG those are soooo cute. That is exactly what I'm looking for for our Disney Themed Birthday party in Nov

I let DD8 put them in the window. I was not allowed to touch them! I tried to smooth out the bubbles and she freaked so I had to wait until she was asleep to smooth them out! :)

I played handbells for about 5 years at church, then directed for the next 5.

During my directing time I taught myself to solo ring because I missed ringing!!

I also have sung my entire life, thus, the name singnring.

Unfortunately, 3 years ago, our church experienced a major sin at the top rank and split apart at the seams.

We left and I no longer have the access to singing or ringing.

I miss it very much! :sad1:

As to the clings, I have looked in all of our Dollar stores, walmarts, michael, hobby lobby, etc and none of them carry them.

Do I live in a deprived part of the country?! :confused3

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet but last year we got gel gems to use for decorating our windows. The just stick to the window then peel right off. They are like clings but fatter. This year we found pumpkins, spiders, and bats as well as some winnie the pooh and mickey ones. I'm so excited I can't wait. 88 more days...woo hoo
I also grabbed some mickey heads paint chips to make into garland. I hope it works out like I think it should in my head. :thumbsup2

In the last 2 days we borrowed 251 Mickey's of all colors from Home depot....it was sooooo fun but I felt like a rebel just taking all of those Mickeys...we go during not so scary so I borrowed a bunch of orange and black this will be my first time decorating since I have read that so many do...I can't wait:rotfl:

I teach children's choir, sing in the praise choir, and ring handbells, but handbells is by far my favorite, although I've never solo'd, but I'd love to!
I'm so sorry that you don't get to do it anymore, but hopefully soon you'll be able to.

Back to the clings...I've seen where people have bought the cling paper at Michaels or Office Max and printed out their own.
Also, you might try ebay - I've seen where people have bought the gel gems there.

I liked this window. Great Going:thumbsup2

Can someone tell me if the little plastic suction cup hooks will stick to the outside of the room door? I was thinking of hanging a red, white, and blue ribbon during my trip next month. I finally found some patriotic window decorations, after searching for what seems like forever! And I went and um, liberated some red, white, and blue Mickey heads from the Home Depot last night too. Only a little over 2 weeks and I will be decorating my room again!:banana::banana:

Unfortunately, our new church is a "new" church. No handbells, no choir, and the worship team is not the same set-up I am accustomed to.

@ the old church I was in trad choir, sang solos in the contemp service, and on Worship Team I sang, played clarinet, penny whistle, and acoustic guitar, in addition to directing bells.

It's been a rough transition going from all to nothing, esp on top of being in a brand new church. Our pastor used to be the youth pastor @ the old church. He saw the rough waters early on and resigned to become the area FCA coordinator. So at least he is an old familiar face for us!!

Anyway, it's funny you mention making the clings. I said something to my DH about doing that and he thought I was wacked!

Now I can tell him maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all!! Yay me! :cheer2:

We always decorate our windows and door at the resort....I've never done the DIS-er, but will do that this year....It's always fun to see what people have done to their windows..We will be at POR on 9-9-09....Can't wait. This year will be the first orange and black theme. We usually go at Christmas time..Lights are always fun..If your out late and you've left the lights on the kids really enjoy that..

That's exactly what we did last October ... :thumbsup2

Here is the window we did when DD and I went last October. We used suction cups to hold the lights. (take an extension cord, I only needed a few inches of one, but was glad I had it)
