Decorating your resort room?

I was at home depot tonight and i picked up some extra LG mickey heads if anyone needs some i have about 30 or so extra i dont need and like 100 in other colors. PM me with your name and address if you need any for your decorating. I have all of my decorating stuff done with the miceky heads so all the ones i have are extras. Let me know if any of you want some!

Is there a trick to this?
My DMIL stopped by HD for me and grabbed A TON of the Mickey Heads; I didn't realize they would have to be cut out. I had big plans on decorating with these, but now I have to figure out how to cut them out. Does anyone have any experience in how to make this process not so tedious? We leave on Saturday :cool1: and I really don't want to spend a lot of time cutting out Mickey heads, but I am really excited about decorating the room.
TIA

Easy way to do Mickey heads:

My trick (I read it on the DIS of course) Soak the mickey head paint chips in water and the colored mickey head part will float to the top and the backing sinks. (Wait until they do it on their own, dont force it or it makes a wierd ripple on it) They come off nice and clean. After that I lay them on a towel and put a heavy glass baking dish over them, otherwise they curl up from being wet! I leave them there overnight so they lay perfectly flat!

This was the best trick ever! I was able to cut out 30 Mickey heads the first night, and with this trick I was able to do well over 100 last night. Now I have Mickey heads all over my kitchen with every heavy pan I own pressing them flat. Only 2 more days to put them to good use... We leave for Pop Century on Saturday!

How far in advance from your trip do you all set up your decorations??? We leave Dec 9th. We have a ball to attend the weekend b4, so I am hoping we have it done b4 then, but if not does it take long to get it all together??? We want to decorate for my son's birthday on the inside, and then the window just be a show of what all we are celebrating (birthday and hubby's return from overseas).

Well, um....:rolleyes1 I'm reading all of these ideas now and my trip isn't until Oct. I suggest you start planning early, as early as you can. I started last year during the summer for our Oct. '08 trip and ran out of time. I had bunches of "plans" but in the end, only ended up having time to make 1/2 of what I wanted. (this included t-shirts also) Time moves quickly. So go ahead and start now! :woohoo:

We just got back from our honeymoon, and we decorated our Pop window for the occassion. :thumbsup2

We actually got a bunch of shouted and screamed "Congratulations!" from passersby, and even a group that stood outside of our door and cheered and clapped! :goodvibes We were even brought a Celebration Rubix Cube from an executive CM who was taking care of a bathroom "issue" a few rooms down from us. :scared: She stopped and dropped it off for us, which was nice.

Anyways, here is our window...

Has anyone ever decorated their room and door at the Port Orleans Mansions? We will be there Sept. 20-26 and I wanted to do some halloween decorations.

I did that a couple of years ago!:goodvibes I had found some lime green window clings that were spiders and bats.

We will be staying at Kidani Village in September (was Treehouse villas as in my sig, but one family cannot make it so had to change ressies) My question is I'm assuming the doors are wooden there - does anyone know if there is an area around the door that we can stick magnets to?

We're going during my birthday time too! Sort of! We'll be getting there three days after DS birthday and leaving a day before mine. I told DH we needed to get a cake and he just laughed. I wonder if he'll do it or should I just go ahead and make the arrangement.

So we are going to be at CBR during the Oct the 7th to the 15th:cool1: and we want to do the window and door decorations halloween, does CBR turn there nose up at that??

has anyone tried using liquid rainbow window paints to make thier own cling? It seems pretty easy if you want something bigger than 8 1/2 X 11.

I think I might go venture out and buy the leading and one color to give it a shot. I want to do an anniversary themed window for DH and I and an Earning our Ears themed window for my parents room.

And DH saw the lime green mickey's all over pics on here so the other day when we were in the paint section waiting for the guy to mix our paint colors for us he grabed a whole hand full and tried to put them in my purse without me knowing. I think I'm going to get some black and orance ones too since we will be there for MNSSHP.

I've used it on my windows at home to give it the frosted or stained glass look. Even though I love to decorate my windows at POP I would not use this there. Even though it peels off it leaves a residue. So unless you are willing to pack a cleaner for the windows I would stay away from this product.
That's just my opinion.

Thanks for the heads up. If I decide to do this I will be sure to bring a small bottle of window cleaner.

WOW!! So much easier than cutting! Thank you for this tip!! :goodvibes

This thread is awesome!! I haven't had a chance to read all of the notes but I did get some great ideas. We are going October 10th and this will be the first time we decorate our door! I'm going to get some of those HD mickeys - does pop resort have metal doors so i can use magnets to stick them on? Was going to make a bigger mickey ear and stick velcro on it with a pen so people could sign...hopefully they will :) Also loved the idea about hanging a plastic pumpkin on door with candy for passers.
Can you tell I am excited!!!!???? Anyway, thoughts on using magnets on pops door would be appreciated!
