Decorating your resort room?

I've been lurking on this thread for quite a while and picking up some good ideas, and I was wondering if anyone had tried the Crayola window markers? I've seen at these Walmart for like $3-4 and thought they'd be great for decorating windows and hopefully easier to get cleaned off. I know that the window chalk is hard to get off, which if I understand correctly, is what the previous few posts have been about. TIA!

This is not plutopuppy, it is her daughter.

These are great tips everyone. Now it's time to contribute mine! Do you know those window writer things that you can get at toys-r-us? You could use them(if you're driving) to write"We're going to Disney!" or something on your car window. They are kinda hard to erase sometimes, so maybe a hotel window wouldn't be the best, but with a bit of windex it'll turn out. Me and plutopuppy(aka mom) are going around my 13th birthday and I want to stay at POP. I love the Mickey head idea- that is a must! Maybe if you strung some on some ribbon, you could make DIS hair ribbons! I'll have to try that.

I am going to try this for my three girls!!!! Sounds like a great idea :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I found them in the school supplies section w/ all of the other markers, crayons, etc.

Okay, Now I really think we need to see some Photos of Decorated Rooms !!
I want to See Others Window & Door Decor !!
Us DIS'ers need to work on this !! :artist:
It Would Be Really Fun to Look At !

I had to share .. I just purchased 9 ft paper Mickey garland on ebay ...
I can't wait to decrorate the room at Christmas ....

I am so hyped! :Pinkbounc It's amazing what it feels like to do something that seems a little on the sneaky side. pirate: I just got back from the big city and me and my brother (Meshmar on the Dis Boards) hit 2 Home Depots. We got Mickeys in every color, but I wonder if there is not a fellow Diser in Tallahassee because there were only 20 alien green ones between both stores!!

We are working on ideas for our doors and windows too, although my DH thinks I am crazy...oh well....I can't wait to see all the decorated windows for free dining.

Heya all, Its sunday evening and we just got back from the Caribbean Beach Resort! I came home to fire up my computer to hop on the DISboards to get updated only to find out. . . . . my computer is DEAD! :badpc: So I fired up my laptop and am currently using that. I have no clue what happened to my 'desktop' unit. It wont power up at all. So I hope its just a power supply issue. I'll stop in tomorrow to see if it's fixable and how much it will run me. All of my photo editing programs are on the computer, and not the laptop here. So, to resize and crop would not be fun on my laptop. Once I get my main unit back I will post some of my window photos.

My window lacked pep. I was tired packing for this vacation and just put a few things together. Nothing spectacular. So.. we check into the resort tuesday morning, and get to our room to find out... I got a corner room! I had two windows to decorate!!!! Problem is that I had enough stuff for one window. :sad2: So I spread out my goodies and called it a day. Our room was in Trinidad Faraway... I mean Trinidad South. (anyone who knows CBR well can relate to our room.) So with that location I'm sure I had not many passerby's.

The Birthday Trip went very well. I have never been to WDW during "Regular Busy Season". Everyone was polite, and understanding. Even though it was way hot and muggy. The last day, saturday (my birthday) wasnt a good day in the parks. I went to Animal Kingdom and everyone there was just rude foul mouth southern folks. So we just skip the park and went home to pack for the evening.

BUT the highlight was this... Friday night was Magic Kingdoms extra evening hours. They were open until 2am. So we took an evening nap, hit MK by 9pm and "brought in" my birthday in style! haha, at 12am it was officially my birthday and I was boarding Haunted Mansion! Wahoo what a night! The park wasnt to crowded and I was able to ride all my favorite rides! We arrived back into the room shortly after 3:30am. Then got back up at 6am to head to Crystal Palace for breakfast! We were able to reserve a spot before the park opened! I was standing on mainstreet USA looking at that castle with just a few other people. How great of a birthday present is that! (not to mention I got birthday hugs/wishes from Pooh and the gang!

Sorry, didnt mean to get off topic. I just had to share my excitment. I will try and get to the window photos soon. I took both day and night shots. Thanks for listening to me my fellow DIS'ers. :thumbsup2

Ps.. My main gift was a 9pm showing of La Nouba! It was the best performance I have seen of the show! Thank you cast for providing me with great memories. :goodvibes

WELCOME BACK FIGMENT GUY!!! can't wait to see the pics, but it sounds like you had a fabulous birthday!!!

The Window markers are VERY hard to get off. I bought them when they first came out and DD did several windows and the huge bathroom mirror. It took at least 8 tries or more to get it completely off. There's a ton of milky type film left and that's the part that's hard to get off..it smudges everywhere. I used Windex. That was the one and only time she used them..I threw them out after that. HTH

We will be in WDW over the 4th of July!!!! 12 days to go!!!! :mickeyjum We are staying at OKW and I'm gonna try to decorate with the Mickey heads. Does anyone have any other ideas that might be 7/4 related?? My DH is gonna think I'm crazy because I got enough to do just to get me and three kids packed up but I really don't want to miss an opportunity to decorate for a holiday. (We don't normally take vacations over holiday times.)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! :smickey:

Stars!!! those always fit the holiday! you could make construction paper r/w/b ones or by them at a party store and put your DIS name on them!!

OOoooo!!! Those are great ideas!! I'm gonna use those. (Obviously, I will be using r/w/b Mickey heads!) Maybe if I attach the pencil with the green paper that would cover me for the Dis recognition?? Does anyone think that I would be able to hang the stars from the ceiling in front of the door or maybe from the door frame?? (I'm assuming the door swings "into" the room.) I'm sooo excited!!! I can hardly contain myself!!

Thanks for all your support.....we've all been there .....excitment.....waiting....and then finally, arrival!

cute idea to hang the stars in the door frame! i like it!! make sure on that green paper you put your DIS name and something like DIS? or DO U DIS?? i always try to put:
www.disboards.com so that we can attract more disney lovers!!

I would love to decorate my room at AKL next weekend! It's our honeymoon and would like to get responses from other members of the dis. What are the mickey heads at home depot? There is a home depot 5 miles from the house and I want the green mickey heads to put on my door! Will someone please tell me how to get them?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!! What a magical way to spend your honeymoon!!

Ok, So here are the photos. Again, I ran short on time and slapped this together. I had to laminate everything so that all that condensation on the window didnt mess up my decorations. (Its pretty humid there and I keep the AC cranked up the whole time). I know these arnt the greatest photos, but I tried.

Figmentguy--love the decorations!!! :thumbsup2 Thanks for posting your pics.

I just love the window decorating thing. My mom, who is taking dd and me to WDW in Dec thinks I'm  for wanting to do that. Oh well she'd not a DISer, so she doesn't get it. :confused3
